Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Sean Sparks (yes I know grain of salt) is saying Gibson has a serious peck injury. Unsure if we see him again this year unless we make a playoff run. I usually don’t post his stuff because it’s usually already been reported on but this is the first I’m seeing on Gibson.
From the hints prior sounded like it depended if it was rhe major or minor and then also partial or complete. Kitselman (partially??) tore the minor hence quick recovery. If Gibson tore the major likely whole season. Especially if full tear. Trying to remember our last guy to do it. Wasn't it a LB?

Is this accurate assessment @VolsDoc81TX ?

That would suck. Please come back healthy Jermod. The emergence of Hood is great, and McMurray is solid as well, but we can't afford another one. Redmond looks like quite the athlete but hate to put that much on a true Freshman.

THIS.

I don’t think Saban left because of NIL, he could have raised that money had he stayed. I think it is the free transfer and play.

Saban made a legacy off of getting the best players and having them sticking around and waiting their turn because they didn’t want to sit a year because it delayed the NFL money.

Once the free transfer was here, he could not stack 3 5* at every position anymore.
Saban was a very earlier adopter and power user of the portal. He was known for tampering and also buying NFL talent that way. For example, instant-impact players like Jahmyr Gibbs, Jameson Williams, and Tyler Steen.

It seems you take your bearing from Saban’s (lying) speeches rather than from his deeds.

Saban left because of NIL — other teams could pay and he could no longer sic the NCAA on them. Saban had been buying players his entire Bama tenure.

Saban’s loud complaints and extensive excuse making and blame-game about the portal happened when other teams also used the portal. (Typical Saban BS.) He didn’t think they should be allowed.

Remember, Saban had lied to a huge number of recruits that he would be there during their years. They were gullible enough (like most fans) not to notice Saban’s long uninterrupted history of lies. Largely because the media never investigated the most corrupt team in history. And because the media (as corrupt) was constantly in coverup mode for dinky Nicky.

So, when Saban broke his word to the players he had bought in recent years in a surprise announcement, the players in turn bailed on Bama.

It was THEN that Saban started his hypocritical made-for-TV rants about the portal. Saban has since devoted huge efforts into getting the power of the NCAA that always cheated for him reinstated. Prolly under a new name. Fans, he assumes, will be duped. Saban didn’t rant when he scooped up Gibbs, for example.

The problem with NIL is that everyone can raise the $ now. Before NIL, Alabama was one of the few teams that could pay players and get away with it. I know “everyone” was doing it, but Bama had the #1 class every year or a top 3 class on an off year. Ole Miss landed a great recruiting class one year in 2013 and they got the hammer dropped on them. Alabama did it every year and they were squeaky clean I guess.
That is true but I think another factor was that Nick just plain didn't have juice any more. I mean the most remarkable thing about him was his ability to not become complacent. He was relentless and meticulous, that is what really made him great.

Having said that back to our regularly scheduled programming, Nick Saban is the Devil.
