Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I heard this conversation. It sounded more to me like he was trying to level with Bama fans that the old Bama is no more when he said this. I don't think it was an excuse. Bottom line is when you aren't as competitive in NIL as most of your rivals, you can't afford to coach your guys as hard as Nick Saban used to coach his.
I refuse to believe that most schools are 20-30 million more invested in NIL than bama is. I actually think the truth is you can get a bag anywhere now, and not just a handful of schools. Now they’re mad about it.

Check out this clause in Florida AD Scott Stricklin's new contract:

"Notably, Stricklin's new contract includes an option for a post-athletic director term, where he's able to become a special assistant to the succeeding athletic director upon the expiration of his contract if he's no longer serving as UF's athletic director."

Doesn't that make it sound like this guy is basically unfirable? After the last football hire, I think I'd be incensed. But this is how things work at the most corrupt "Athletic Department" In the country—The UAA. Heck Jeremy Foley is still pulling strings there. Many Gator fans realize this too.
I think that is akin to the setup Saban has at Bama. I'd expect Barnes will have a similar deal when he retires where he'll be able to be around the program as much as he wants.
