Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Maybe not entirely, but to a certain degree they matter when it comes to national TV exposure and media attention early in the season. You want the media talking about your team. Being an underdog that nobody talks about was fine for what the program was 4 or 5 years ago, but now we are probably want the spotlight. More attention leads to more nationally televised games, more buzz around the program, and it helps with recruiting.

Win games and the attention will follow

the gun museum is awesome as well..I like togo walk out there occassionally and soak in quiet and reflect on history.
Those big National battlefield parks are amazing...it is always surreal to me how you can walk around a place that is so beautiful and peacefully serene now, but know that it was pure hell on earth for a few days 150+ years...I remember when I went to Devils Den and Little Round Top in Gettysburg I sat down on a rock and cried like a baby imagining what happened there...having a good imagination either helps or hurts depending on how you look at it.

How do you jailbreak one of those
I have a google tv dongle thing... can they be jailbreaked
It's not really jailbreaking anything. Google TV Dongles and Firesticks are just running a version of Android. Which means you can run any app that can run on Android. The apps that show live TV for free aren't on the Store obviously, so you have to "side load" them. Which isn't that hard.

But when I want to watch love sports, I use "Web Video Caster". It is two apps: one goes on your phone and one goes on your TV. Both should be in the Google store.

You find the link on your phone, and then cast it to the app running on your TV.

Works great 90% of the time. If the link isn't working just fine a new one.

DeBoer was stupid to take that job...he was never going to succeed there. He should have been like Campbell at Iowa State and just stayed at Washington forever.
He honestly had it made at Washington. The difference in salary between an elite job and a good job is not as stark as it used to be. Washington offered him about $9.5m/year to stay and he decided to go to Alabama for a little over $1m/year more (on average over the life of the deal). 20 years ago, Alabama would be paying 2 or 3x more than a school like Washington would.

Yep, chances are very high that you will not succeed following a legend like Saban. And, succeed means you keep winning at the same level. I just don't know why you'd want that. Plus, now you have to live in Alabama. Seattle area is beautiful.

$70million buyout…he could go back to Washington with an extra 70million in his pocket. In a couple of years

I think that even Alabama fans understand that nobody was going to win at the same level. On average Saban won a national title a little more often than once every 3 years. Until 2020, he actually won a national title every other year, on average. He won the SEC at a clip approaching 2 out of every 3 years (9 out of 16 seasons he was at Alabama). Even the most delusional, entitled Alabama fans know nobody else is going to come in and keep that pace up.

I think what they expect out of DeBoer (or anybody who happened to replace Saban) is being one of the top 2 or 3 SEC teams in any given year, winning the SEC once every 2-3 years, making the CFP basically every year, every 2-3 years making a deep playoff run, and eventually delivering on one of those deep runs by winning it all. High expectations, yes, but they should have high expectations.

What they are seeing now is so far removed from being able to meet those expectations; that is why they are upset. They look like what I would describe as a "typical good team." There's absolutely nothing special about them.
