Seen it mentioned somewhere that Syracuse ran 86 plays against us Saturday which is the most for a Vols opponent since 2022. 5 of 6 of our scoring drives lasted less than 2.5 minutes which kept our defense on the field a lot. I’m very excited to see the tempo come back finally with new wrinkles in the play calling to match.

That game had a very 2022 feel to it all around

Bend, don’t break defense

Offense that was mostly humming

Also, you build a lead like that you start rotating in guys for experience and you also switch to playing zone and keeping everything in front of you. That's when Syracuse started having success with the ground game and short yardage passes.

...
This. It has been explained.

Get up. Prevent big plays and quick scores. Make them work for it and burn clock. "Fail slowly", so to speak.

They will run out of possessions, and even quicker as our offense keeps putting up points.

They didn't play an SEC. They got smoked by a one dimensional fsu team that went 2-10 last year. They might not win 8 games. The wheels don't come off any faster
I’m guessing bama death is being greatly overblown. Are they going to be world beaters, no. But still a good roster. Maybe a change at qb to freshman might get them going.

I am glad we had 1 long 12 minute drive as well, means we can run the ball good enough to sustain drives as well. Meaning we are more well rounded. We can mash and we can dash. Our D while having a few lapses played pretty good overall. But they will be better. 1st games don’t define a season. Our run could be powerful, our O- line is deeper than 2022. Our D should be better. I think the O and D are going to get better. GBO

I'm not overthinking the defensive performance against Syracuse and here is why:

Once we built the lead we rotated guys in. I had always suspected it but I looked at the drive chart and rewatched the highlights and paid attention to who was on the field.

Look at Syracuses drive chart:
1st Q - 14 tot yards
Punt (25yd drive)
Punt (-4yds)
Fumble (-7yds)

2nd Q
Touchdown (75yd drive)
Punt (39yd drive)
Touchdown (49yd drive)
End of Half (-11yds)

3rd Q
Interception (0yd drive)
Touchdown (75yd drive)
Punt (2yd drive)

4th Q
Touchdown (88yd drive)
Punt (-1 yd)
Downs (71yd drive)

Notice a pattern?

Once we established the big lead I think we started alternating drives with mostly 2s. Then we put the 1s in the red zone.

During Syracuses scoring drives in highlights reels I saw these guys: Spillman, Beasley, William Wright, Ben Bolton, Ty Redmond, Brendan Anes, Jaedon Harmon. Jordan Burns also recorded a tackle. Then I noticed the 1s would be out there once they got into the red zone.

Listening to this - I think a UGA win will all depend on who we get back on dline. Hobbs won't likely be back by then ans Moi is very cryptic. About to have a big youth movement against ETSU.

Pretty sure Hobbs will be back for Georgia. Saw somewhere that he and Sanders could have played Saturday if necessary. Heup knew he could win without them. I have noticed this about Heup since year one when he managed a roster of about 68 or so players…he knows exactly what he has and can institute a game plan for certain games to win if he needs to get some banged up guys some rest, in order to have them ready for bigger games. He is elite at roster management.

Do u have a cash out offer?
Yeah. I only bet $.85 on it. 👀, just the change that was on my account. I thought there was no way it would hit. $.85 for $707.

I haven't looked at it closely because of stition. I should probably just let it ride for $.85, but turning down $100+ is hard to do. May cash out, just as an F.U. to the betting apps.

I like the fact that we have decided to take advantage of the fact that refs allow dB's to hand fight back in coverage. It allows our d backs to play aggressive and gives them a mental edge we've lacked.
Just wait til we get some gata or Bama refs, definitely UGA refs. They'll throw 10k flags on us for pi.
