Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I don't know how much this was discussed, but it felt like MORE people fell down to stop us yesterday than previously. You can still get away with it if the ball isn't set?

I was there and they did.

It was painful to watch live.

My girls grew quite bored and said at one point they liked going to Braves games better because the games moved at a faster pace

Football has got to do something about pace of play - that was a painfully long game with all the replays, commercials, fake injuries, etc

Just maybe Nico left because coaches were just trying to get more out of his talent than his group thought he could handle. Either way he did us a Great favor leaving because we up graded by a lot. Aguilar has a lot more insight than Nico ever will. GBO 💥 🍊 . And thanks Nico for getting out of our way to the playoffs. I'm betting coaches didn't try that hard to keep him.

Yes. After one weekend—mostly—in the books, I can say with conviction that this new rule doesn’t really do anything

Joey’s touchdown to Star was a thing of beauty.

Felt pressure and moved up in the pocket. Escaped and kept his eyes downfield. He could have easily just ran but he stopped and gave Star time to work up and to the middle. Throws a dime and it’s a TD.

No way Nico make that play. He is either sacked or immediately runs when he escapes the pressure.

I really enjoyed watching Joey run the offense and his poise and accuracy for a first game.

For your Sunday morning viewing pleasure. Seems they are in the “we should just play walk ons and freshmen” phase of the grief process.

Agreed! They gave 3 mins for almost every single “injury”. I guarantee there was at least 45 minutes of real time for “injuries”. It was absurd.

Agree! I said it may have been his most impressive play of the game, except maybe the dime to Staley.

Agreed

All last year I bounced back and forth in my head as to whether Nico was really just another version of DJ Uiagalelei - it looks more and more like he is

Aguilar fits our scheme better
Aquilar seemed to move the offense faster (reminiscent of Hooker) and seemed to see the whole field better. We'll get a better idea as the season goes on, but I'm definitely not disappointed at all. Seems to me like Arch, Lame-o was overrated.

I hope I'm wrong. We have really talented team that I think with above average QB play can get us to 9-3 and good QB play to 10-2. Just no way to say that losing Nico in the spring was anything but devastating for 2025. Maybe long-term a benefit but not right now.
Insane take.

Few musings

George looks great but unfortunately he's just so thin. I don't think he's quite ready to handle a full season physically. Aguilar will definitely be the guy going into game one imo.

Physically the freshman are quite impressive. David Sanders is a man. Brame, Radarious Jackson, Morris, Dye.

Linebackers will be the best we've had in a long time.

No real dynamic playmakers on offense it seems (right now at least).

Secondary will be better if McCoy comes back even close to healthy. DL isn't as twitchy but is really solid.

I'd expect OL to be better than last year. Moe was a good pickup. Pendleton is just a body. Perry will be good. Heard and Warren are in better shape.

QB play is really just a killer right now. Nico (and Carnell Tate) really hosed us as this could've been a real championship caliber team.
Another insane take. Nico would have destroyed our playoff hopes this year.
