Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Those rules experts are a sham. They exist to backup the refs 9 times out of 10 so we dumdums at home feel better about the call. I’m surprised they still do it.
Even when they disagree with the refs call, they are doing it to launder the idea they are a neutral party. It's usually painfully obvious and undeniable so it allows them to build credibility.

The ESPN ref has been wrong all weekend lol.

Yes, if you take two steps falling and drop the ball, it is not a catch. You're describing a rule that doesn't exist. There is no rule that says "feet down before you're allowed to lose control of the ball". You have to complete the process of the catch. If you're extending and falling to catch it, you have to maintain control. It doesn't matter if you take three steps while you're falling.
Exactly. He wasn't falling while catching it. Or at least not so obviously that they can overturn it. You can absolutely drop the ball after you catch it if you establish yourself and you weren't falling to the ground. That rule does exist.

Tennessee won. Alabama lost.

If he wasn't falling how did he end up on the ground? The defender didn't touch him. He extended to catch it and fell down. The ESPN ref said he disagreed because the WR had the ball tucked.

I think if that same sequence happened at the 50 nobody would think it was a catch.

Full extension, two steps, ball tucked, bounces out. That play happens all the time and no one struggles to call it an incompletion.

But..agree to disagree. JMO.

Quote from Star Thomas:

THOMAS ON WHETHER HE AGREES WITH HOOD’S ASSERTION THAT TENNESSEE SILENCED SOME HATERS AND DOUBTERS SATURDAY

“I mean, we had a lot of people probably questioning what we'll be when we lost our quarterback. Just different. We lost (Dylan) Sampson and stuff, all that. We just came in every day, put our head down. Coach told us, like, keep going. Everything change. We go by the saying, “F.E.B.” Can't say what it means. We go by it. We know what we got, we know the work we put in. Just go out there and play.”

Love that the team feels the same way we do lol they must be salty and feel disrespected to be using F.E.B. as a saying.
