Anywhere on the field if you extend for a catch, take two steps falling down, and bounce the ball off the ground, it is not a catch
No. The rule is if you're falling to the ground when you secure the ball, you have to maintain possession through the ground.

So if you take two steps, you weren't falling to the ground. Even the ESPN ref agreed.

The ball can touch the ground and not lose possession now.
He did lose possession. The commentary team said he had his arm under it but he clearly didn't.

You've got the Twitter, post a still shot if you can. I could be wrong, but on the replay it looked clearly to me like he had the ball between his chest and the ground.

What a day. How’s everyone’s outlook on the season after our performance and seeing most everyone else play so far?

Still around 9-3. There’s a lot of parity in the league but premier teams will emerge. Maybe we beat a team that’s favored, but we also drop a game where we’re not favored. This has been consistent under Heupel. It’s going to be hard to win all of our road games.

Unfortunately, it’s become a subjective call. Dez Bryant and Calvin Johnson had calls go against them like that. I do think they need to be consistent, whether it’s in the field or the end zone. Tough call.
It definitely wasn't obvious black and white either way, which is why the ruling shouldn't be overturned. That's the part that bothers me.

The ESPN ref has been wrong all weekend lol.

Yes, if you take two steps falling and drop the ball, it is not a catch. You're describing a rule that doesn't exist. There is no rule that says "feet down before you're allowed to lose control of the ball". You have to complete the process of the catch. If you're extending and falling to catch it, you have to maintain control. It doesn't matter if you take three steps while you're falling.

Sorry, that probably came off harsher than intended. It's less about your post, and more that I've basically read that exact same sentiment like 20+ times today, I've been so confused where it came from all day.
No big deal. I don't gamble, so I misunderstood what he actually said. I'm also pretty biased against him anyway because I perceive him to be a hapless sycophant with a microphone, but I realize I'm probably in the minority.

As Heupel would say, "At the end of the day" (his favorite phrase), Vols win, Gumps lose. Doesn't get any better than that.

I don't care enough to mess with it, 😂

Those rules experts are a sham. They exist to backup the refs 9 times out of 10 so we dumdums at home feel better about the call. I’m surprised they still do it.
