Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Yeah hard disagree on what I said being as myopic as dismissing him. The "lower competition" argument is the epitome of myopic. That proves nothing.

You can watch film of him going through multiple progressions, being poised, having zero fear of the rush, delivering the ball accurately down the field, throwing the ball well on the run and throwing into tighter windows routinely.

All of this in an Offense that asked him to do more, use his brain more, turn his back to the defense in the pistol (we never have our QB's turn their backs on play action and then turn back around to find a read down the middle)

All of those football IQ things that Nico did not possess last year. Like you don't see Joey just give up on his first read, panic and take off in a clean pocket lime Nico did several times. Or have sometimes 4 straight perplexing just flat out misses of wide open receivers.

It would be different if we had a pro style Offense, but we have a low risk high reward Offense that has produced the most lay ups maybe in the history of football. So it's just logical to me to project that a guy, who has already played at a high level, in a more complex system, with the best deep ball completion % in the country, will do well in Heupel's system.
👍 I think he also had some ill advised throws against worse competition, and it's rumored at times a freshman looked the best of the three. He's our best option 0 doubt and my full support. I think he'll do well, but i won't put unrealistic expectations on him to overachieve. I feel like some are is all I am pushing back on. If he can do slightly better than Nico did last year - grand slam.

This shows him as 9th in the SEC IN QBR. The only qbs that he beat out was the bottom tier passers in the SEC. He had a lower QBR than Vandys “stud” qb.

ESPN's Total QBR is a well-known trash stat.

I'm talking the generally accepted QBR/paaser rating.

Cfbstats or CFBReference imo

Yep, in a 4th qtr game I will he worried if he goes off script with it too much and costs us. As for the other stuff, I feel very close to certain he will outperform Joe and Nico on. Accuracy and general football IQ.

I'll actually be shocked if he is as bad as Nico was. Would mean a lot of missed wide open ones and bailing in the pocket. That said, he could still out perform them by a mile, just cost us 4 OT games with int's. It's possible.

I'm almost ready for our offense to take more risks though. Our offense, even with Hendon against teams like UGA, would get so vanilla. Might need someone who isn't a afraid to rip it like Joey to make game changing winning plays.

This is a great retread for anybody. Gots me all excited again! A few of the "wtf are you doing" mixed with so e truly elite play.

What’s the better class:

-17 commits, 94.39 avg recruit ranking

- 27 commits, 92.07 avg recruit ranking
Bill C. has shown your 10 top recruits matter more than just big classes.

So I'd probably go with 17 commits and a mid 94 avg. But no guarantee their top 10 is better than the other's, but odds are.

I find the cfbstats highly suspect as well. Nico had the lowest qbr of the Heupel era and was very similar to JG when he finished 3rd in the SEC in 2018. The eye test is way more accurate in determining that Nico was a below average qb.

They (Oregon) have five 5* vs one 5* for the 27 commit class (A&M).

Now which players are actually better 🤷🏻‍♂️
