What would the narrative and win/loss record predictions be if Joey was transferring in off his 33/10 season in 2023?

Also the 8-4 prediction for us is the safe pick. It’s beating all the teams we are better than and going 0-4 against comparable or slightly less talented…..I’ll take my chances with Heupel winning one of those….especially against Ok at home.

It looks like you can get upper bowl for $65 right now. You won’t have to stand.

I kept telling people complaining about prices that this game would be a deal. Look into Starkville and Lexington too.

I think it’s always tough to predict which QBs can stay effective when making a giant leap in competition.

That 2001 game intro vs Syracuse that tnhunter 10 posted got me looking at our team that year and I watched some highlights of our games.

Would be interesting to hear from you guys that were watching back then (Yes, I know I can use Google, but hearing from actual fans is much better).

What were your thoughts after the SEC champ loss? Were people thinking back then that maybe 98 was a one off? Was Fulmer starting to lose his luster? Interested to see what the responses here will be.

Rewatched the 2024 Florida game earlier. Nico was atrocious.

Absolutely. I was at that game and he was so late with his reads and missed at least 2-3 TD’s to wide open receivers.

Here’s a funny story from that season that Dad told me years ago that still makes me chuckle. He was working for Merita Bakery back then as a driver. From what he told me, it wasn’t common, but every once in a while he’d have to drive from Knoxville to Birmingham to make a delivery.

He always marveled at how much the local Auburn and Gump fans that worked at Merita down there hated each other, but he said there was one thing they always agreed on: getting pissed off at him whenever they’d open the trailer and find printed Power Ts taped to all the bread racks. They’d let him have it. He’d always absolve responsibility and tell them, “If you got a problem, take it up with the Knoxville dockhands I don’t load the truck” even though he was fully in on the scheme.

He said there were a few LSU fans down there who would just laugh about it.

As soon as the game was over, I looked at my buddy and told him the loss would haunt us for awhile. Imo, it took us until 2021 to finally recover from it. Whenever I said it, I never nightmared it would take us 20 long years; but, I just had a feeling, in that moment, it was more than just a terrible loss.

Imo, it's the most devastating loss I have seen in my 40 years of watching the Vols. Last year was the first time since, we were in a position to win a National Title. I know that we went to 2 other SEC Championships after; but, I have always believed we backdoored our way into those. Until Heupel, I have never believed we were truly relevant since that night.

We win that game, that would have given us 3 SEC Championships in 5 years, and playing for a second National Championship in 4 years. Who knows where that may have propelled us into the beginning of the 21st Century. Instead, we had to settle for woodshedding Michigan in the Citrus bowl. We went from playing for another National Championship, to not even playing in one of the MAJOR bowls. Florida ended up in the Orange Bowl that year, and ranked #3 in the country, one spot ahead of us.

They’ll sign this kid, he’s throwing equivalent to 107 right now. He’s mowed the entire LLWS. Think they said he was at 50 pitches with one inning left. The limit is 85 pitches for a kid in the tournament.
