And they’ll probably go to 16 teams next year tooESPN putting this out there only yesterday was an early indicator that we were about to go to 9 games:

CFP selection committee to use enhanced metrics
The College Football Playoff selection committee will announce its first of six rankings Nov. 4 using enhanced metrics to help evaluate schedule strength and how teams perform against their schedule, the CFP announced Wednesday.www.espn.com
ADs, Presidents wanted more money. The coaches didn't want this. ADs needed a guarantee that SEC teams could still get in going 9-3, maybe even 8-4.
Also probably explains the season tix price hike for next year
You'll end up with some decent ones just due to the size of teams needing to check the power 4 box. There are only so many Boston Colleges to schedule. Seems to me we are about to get some good games.Also...there's no point in playing marquee OOC games anymore....so I don't blame any SEC team for canceling other series. It's gonna be cupcake city.
Yes, another reason I don't like the direction of College Football. Bring back the 10 team conference and play rotating games with 'real competition' like USC, Nebraska, etc. Then again, the only games I can afford are probably the cupcakes (School for the Blind).Also...there's no point in playing marquee OOC games anymore....so I don't blame any SEC team for canceling other series. It's gonna be cupcake city.
