Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I don't know where you live, but there hasn't been a rabid animal in Knox County in over 40 years. If he killed one of your daughter's cats, like I said before, I don't blame you. Btw, Foxes are not apex predators, they are mesopredators. Which means if they are bigger than something they will kill it, if not, they are the prey. So, a bigger dog, coyotes even eagles and hawks (young foxes, mostly) and big bobcats kill foxes. But, all right, nice job, I just prefer not to see a dead fox, that died from lead poisoning for wandering around at 5:30, in the RF. But, you do you ,man
I don't live in Knox county or in Tennessee, but we have a fox problem on our farm and we eradicate them when seen. So not to take a chance on a possible rabid fox that never comes out during the day but then comes out during the day okay. Sorry it ticks you off but I really don't care, especially after you hung me a bird, just ignore me and you won't see the next picture of the next fox I kill.......cause I will surely post it.

If you catch a nocturnal animal like that out in the middle of the day then there is a decent chance they are rabid, just like a raccoon can be. So yeah he's a threat, and his mother killed one of my daughters cats about a year and a half ago so spare me that crap. The next fox I see will be a dead one too. That's an apex predator just like a coyote and should be shot on sight. I don't kill for sport or pleasure, I kill for meat and protection. And a fox dies 10 out of 10 times if I catch them.
Keep your invasive cat indoors next time, it's doing far more damage to the ecosystem than a native grey fox. A grey fox is not going to take a housecat. Its far more likely a coyote or red fox did.

BTW, what you did was legitimately illegal. The fox wasn't an immediate threat and did not show any signs or symptoms of rabies, and was not in the process of raiding a chicken coop. Therefore, it's still in a protected status unless you get explicit approval from a game warden to shoot them on-site on your property. Grey foxes are not considered a nuisance species and can only be taken during the furbearer season with a hunting license.

*Removed last paragraph*

I have no idea your situation. I'm sure there are caveats to shooting them if you're in fear they pose a threat to live stock.

Definitely dont see coyotes as needing protection. I dont like killing animals, esp for no reason. Even if they pose a threat.

But line the coyotes up. Pew pew.

Of course nothing I say is going to change your uneducated, ignorant, illegal behavior - so I guess I'm wasting my time.
Wow, that's harsh. Look man, I like you alot, always have, your a good poster. But goodness that is rough. This is what we have always done my entire life, we were raised this way as I'm sure alot of other people were too, I respect your knowledge and all but good grief no need for that last paragraph.

Man, I've been mostly cool, but it did piss me off. I will apologize for the "bird". I do not live where you do, obviously. So, I don't know your situation with foxes. The only thing I ask, please don't put another pic of a dead fox on here and I will happily take the "L" . Cool?

I used to sell to Disney this is their plan to put free Brodcast and cable out to pasture.

The cord cutters are killing them and they need all sports nuts to pay them 100+ a month just to break even.

Clay does a great job of breaking it down here:

I'm not sure. that article was from 2023.

Ive heard Chris Winfrey talk. He's a giant sports nut, college sports nut. Adam Ray attended college in Maryville.

Charter aint losin' ESPN.

Man it aint about that. If it does bother you that much then I have no problem not posting anything else of that nature. You've got my word.

May want to hide that picture. We have a family friend who's a Warden, he says they look for social media and online. He's also a TN fan, lol.
We were talking about broadcast television earlier and I only quickly glanced at your chart and the post with no real awareness of the context of the discussion. I assumed this was about the Fox network and it took me a few seconds to figure out what interest your Warden friend had in people’s over-the-air TV practices.

Okay, maybe that wasn't fair, just frustrating to see this and was unexpected.

Let me say this and leave it be - just because you've done something your whole life and its the way you were taught to handle it doesn't make it right and/or doesn't mean there aren't alternative solutions.

I hunt and trap. I trap foxes (I have a red pelt on my wall). I do nuisance trapping, too. I've helped numerous friends solve predator problems with chickens and turkeys. Controlling predators is useful and important. But there's a lot of stuff I don't do anymore because I was taught a better way or learned more info.

Here's what I do, if you're interested... I target specific animals causing a specific problem if its out of season. Certain species I'll typically check with a warden first to be clear. Then in the season when I'm done deer hunting I trap to stay active and target certain predator species that we're trying to manage. But otherwise, I leave them alone. It's also cool to see them on the landscape and I always want to see them.

Some individuals of the population will never be a problem or pest for you. They'll get really good at finding a certain food source and stay out of your way. You want to keep those around and let them educate the next generation to stay away from your stuff. Studies have shown in coyotes you're actually more likely to have issues if you continually remove older members of the population because younger ones move in and get themselves in trouble.

All that to say, there's a balance to it. These predators are cool animals and they're a necessary part of the ecosystem so it's important to keep a couple hanging around doing their thing. Just maybe give more thought to it when you see them and just.... watch and see what they're doing

Foxes are cool as ****.

Read once that if you kill a coyote, to leave their carcasses out as a warning to other coyotes. Or was it Yetis?

Please don’t ever change.
Lol..I don't think I can at this point, but I do need to be a little less...uhmm...vociferously hateful..sometimes....I've tried to take it down a notch, but then some dumba$$ will post their toxic dumba$$ery and my blood pressure instantly spikes...😡
