Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Bloomingdale for me. The antenna we had was gigantic. Probably 10 feet long and 5 feet wide. Had 2 dozen elements. It was rated for 250 miles. Thank goodness for Radio Shack.

I wrecked it one year pretending I was a UT punter and launched a football throught the middle of it. Let's just say the Emperor was not too pleased with his apprentice. Lol.
Bloominadayull and Colon'yull Hites are in some some pretty craggy areas. My kin are from Bloomingdale via coal mines of Coeburn.

Let’s hope this year “time out management” has improved ….I’ve had to replace so many remotes😭🤣🤣 that’s my only issue with him outside of the offense being asleep the last two years.
Not going to need to use timeouts this year. Gonna be so far ahead not going to want to stop clock.

I currently work in the area schools, one of which has students from all over colonial heights and bloomingdale. It’s a great place with great people, but lots of sad stories as well.

We had a good time growing up there. My high school buddies and I got a softball team together to play in the first Fun Fest 1 pitch softball tournament. Think that was 1981 maybe. Called our team Bloomingdale Liberation Organization (BLO) . Patti Hurst was an honorary member. Ha!

Big rant incoming:

I meant like Amazon Prime, Netflix, ESPN+, ect. Basically you'll have to have a subscription to some streaming service to watch the games. My dad has a TV antenna and doesn't have internet. He gets CBS, FOX, ABC, NBC. So if wants to watch the VOLS, he's out of luck watching it at his house.

That's what's getting lost in all this, the older crowd that has supported the VOLS for 40, 50, 60, even 70 years, is getting left behind. The ones that have sit through a lot of bad football, basketball, and baseball games are being told to pony up or get out. Pushing the locals out is not cool. We're not florida or georgia or kentucky where this type of behavior is expected. This is happening in Knoxville TN and it's not sitting ok with me. I'm not that excited for the season because of the greed of college athletics as a whole. It's too much.

*Much like with the Knox/Anderson County housing market and how my 20 yr old son is not able to afford a place of his own. It's not the locals driving prices up, it's all these yankees and west coasters coming in. The housing market they're coming from is twice as high as what East Tennessee has been. The locals are getting screwed. The salaries of the blue collar crowd are not keeping up with local/national inflation. Don't get me started on the infrastructure.

End
I used to sell to Disney this is their plan to put free Brodcast and cable out to pasture.

The cord cutters are killing them and they need all sports nuts to pay them 100+ a month just to break even.

Clay does a great job of breaking it down here:
