Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Michigans rushing offense is more similar to the NFL than ours. We need some of our offensive guys to become good NFL players.

The NFL isn’t one scheme that Michigan “matches.” On Sundays you see shotgun and under-center looks, wide zone, counter, duo, gap runs, RPO, and some tempo. Plenty of what we run shows up in the NFL. What translates for RBs are traits and assignments like vision, footwork, ball security, receiving, and pass protection. Our backs are coached hard in pass pro and former Vols get good marks there. You can’t dismiss our offense just because it isn’t methodical. Some pieces don’t map that well, but many do. I think NFL coaches tend to agree since that position has had a nice streak of draft picks the last few years.

Big rant incoming:

I meant like Amazon Prime, Netflix, ESPN+, ect. Basically you'll have to have a subscription to some streaming service to watch the games. My dad has a TV antenna and doesn't have internet. He gets CBS, FOX, ABC, NBC. So if wants to watch the VOLS, he's out of luck watching it at his house.

That's what's getting lost in all this, the older crowd that has supported the VOLS for 40, 50, 60, even 70 years, is getting left behind. The ones that have sit through a lot of bad football, basketball, and baseball games are being told to pony up or get out. Pushing the locals out is right. We're not florida or georgia or kentucky where this type of behavior is expected. This is happening in Knoxville TN and it's not sitting ok with me. I'm not that excited for the season because of the greed of college athletics as a whole. It's too much.

*Much like with the Knox/Anderson County housing market and how my 20 yr old son is not able to afford a place of his own. It's not the locals driving prices up, it's all these yankees and west coasters coming in. The housing market they're coming from is twice as high as what East Tennessee has been. The locals are getting screwed. The salaries of the blue collar crowd are not keeping up with local/national inflation. Don't get me started on the infrastructure.

End
I was going to post on this last night. True fans being priced out of watching or listening (at least) is the one area where I would draw a line. Having cupcakes on pay channels is ridiculous. If he has no internet I get that streaming audio may not be possible either. It's what I use when all other options fail me.

He's still got a AM/FM radio. 🤣

More important news, the great Bill Williams has passed away at 91 years old..

If I am remembering things correctly,
Bob Kesling is the only one left of that crew.
It was Bill Williams and Edye Ellis as anchors, Margie Ison did the weather, and Bob did the sports.
Time has gone by so quickly.
The brevity of man.

Most of our success in the running game comes via our wide splits on offense. We need some of our rbs to prove to be good in the NFL. It will draw more elite players to our program, imo.

Wasn't Carl Williams in the mix as well?

If anyone here uses Vettix there are tickets available for the opener in Atlanta.

This is also a good option for some discounts that also donate to charity. The A-Town Lounge looks cool.

I’m getting texts from Derek Dooley. My names not Brandon btw.
