people in the media are just so enamored with the idea and potential of Nico but Nico the actual player is very different. He was bad.

A guy like Brooks Austin truly understands football schematically bc hes been in it his whole life

He does a good job on all his stuff and keeps it honest no matter what.

I listened to him a while ago but his pronunciation and dialect drove me nuts. Sounds like he cleaned it up a bit. At one point he was breaking down Nico’s first game and was saying stuff like “dat boys dap game is skrong”. Ok man.

i get it but talking through actual schematics and details of the game is his thing. He played OL his whole life through college.

Sometimes he’s on sports talk radio here in Atlanta and he’s more professional with his delivery in that environment. His YouTube videos would benefit from that as well. He’s definitely knowledgeable there’s no doubt about that.

Catching up on the Sooners...

They are excited about their new QB. Staff, media and fans alike. He was showing up at basketball games and different spots on campus this offseason. Kind of the peoples champ.

OL was dinged up most of the season last year. They got healthy near the end of the season and feel better about health of the OL and depth going into season. Added some guys in portal, have some young guys that have come up in the program that they're excited about.

WRs were also decimated last year (do you remember this when we played them?). Top 5 guys missed most of last season. Got some new, good guys out of the portal. Put NIL together for some good WR they wanted to keep. Focusing on health. Feel like they have some dynamic guys and will be a much improved unit over last year just because their entire unit isn't injured.

Everyone fired up about Jaydn Ott, the guy they added at RB. Rest of the RB room looks good. They feel that the RB room is a strength for them.

They are still confident in defense because of their head coach and the fact that they had to lean on defense so much last season.

Did lose some leaders on D, multi-year starters.

LB is a strength for defense.

David Stone (former 5 star) will be huge for them on DL. He was the guy that went into the portal then they got him back ($$$). Adebawore is another former 5-star DL that they think will blossom this year. DL has great depth beyond/behind them.

They kept a lot of guys they needed to keep, they brought in a lot of guys at positions of need via portal, they are healthier than last season. They still have a lot of good pieces, 70% of their roster are 4 or 5 star players.

Media feel like this is a huge prove-it year for Venables. Venables and his staff are aware of that as well. People in charge there feel like they've thrown a lot of money around to fix things. See a lot of 8 or 9 win ceiling predictions, citing difficulty of schedule. I've seen some confident 10 win and playoff calls.

It really comes down to is the new QB the man or not. The season will go as Mateer does.

Their team is loaded with talent. I believe that Venables is not a particularly good HC — which will play out to their dismay this year.

I agree on Venables, but they're better at almost every position this year on offense (mostly because of injuries who missed so much last year), so I'm expecting them to have a much better year. They literally started more backups than 1s at WR and OL all year.

They'll look better and Venables will sell the improvement to keep his job in my opinion.

Nico played high school football 11x11. I think a lot of recruits play 7x7 in the spring and summer.

These 7 on 7 phenoms seem like they are used to seeing the field clearly, get to 11 on 11 and freak out
