Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Nike thinks we should feel blessed to have their logo associated with our program and should take a back seat to their favored programs (Oregon, OSU, Michigan, Alabama, and UGA). Adidas wants to go all-in with us and help us stuff Nike and their golden teams in a locker. It's a no-brainer. Hopefully it makes a big difference and gives us the edge we need to get back to the top.

Should we have trusted Butch Jones after back-to-back 9-4 seasons? I respect what this staff has accomplished. That doesn't mean they are incapable of mistakes.
Of course they are capable of mistakes. I would never argue that they aren't. I'm saying that the typical fan massively overstates his ability and understanding. Dunning-Kruger is a real thing and it gets proved on here on practically a daily basis.

And say what you will about Butch, he's still making a living coaching Div1 football, something that 99.9999% of fans have never and will never do.

Personally....I like my Adidas gear more anyway.

Excited to see what the uniforms look like with school having creative control, and I hope to god they can keep the polos/T-shirt prices in check.

$75 for polos, $40 for t-shirts, and $100+ for not stitched jerseys was a damn joke

At the end of these 10 years, Lord willing I am still around, I look forward to seeing not only the benefits the deal has brought us, but the benefits Vol Nation has brought to ADIDAS. If they think this highly of us, to make such a lucrative investment, Vol Nation needs to show out, like only WE do.

I’ll be buying day one. Need some new gear anyway.

How Adidas could pay Tennessee athletes for NIL

The change from Nike to Adidas could be a divisive decision among UT fans.

During the previous partnership, there were highs like the Vols wearing Adidas football jerseys during the 1998 national title season. And there were lows like the awkward uniform designs during sub-par football seasons late in the Adidas era.

But the lucrative Adidas contract will help fund UT’s revenue sharing pool to pay athletes.

Plus, Adidas prioritizes college sports, so it could open doors to national branding campaigns for elite UT athletes with signature NIL deals. At Nike, most of those opportunities were reserved for NFL and NBA players.

That’s a new concept in the NIL era, where schools can facilitate corporate contracts for their athletes. National campaigns then feature those college athletes in ways they couldn't do in the previous era.

“Obviously, we’ll always have the big school relationship. But it’s great to use different marketing campaigns in and around campus (featuring UT athletes)” said McGuire, an Adidas executive for the past 26 years.

“Some will go national, depending on who they are. Some will be regional campaigns. And if it’s a new football jersey or basketball jersey that needs to be sold, we’ll use athletes there on campus, and they’ll be compensated."

Adidas make better quality gear, and was widely available.

DW is the best in the biz
And, I dont think it's even particularly close. While there are multiple ADs out there that are off-the-charts amazing...I believe White to be in a stratosphere all his own. What he's accomplished IN UNDER 5 YEARS, all across our sports, is historic and without equal.

Again, Danny White hasn't even been a Vol 5 years yet. Imagine 10 years from now.
