Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Calling it

Everyone is worried on August 30th. First drive. We get the ball against Cuse, we run it down their throats and after a first down or two we call a shot play, it's of course wide open and Aggy hits him for a TD.

Everyone exhales.
Vols fans won't unclench all season. What are you talking about, Willis?

How do you feel about 3 day water fasts?

*I work with a guy 20 years younger than me that fasts once or twice a year. I'm interested in fasting (at least trying to) but I'm 50 and on BP medicine.
I did an 11 day water fast. The biggest thing is to make sure you're getting electrolytes and vitamins. I took a multivitamin daily and then took a high quality electrolyte powder 2x daily.

Day 1 and 2 is tough. Day 3 is better. Day 4? I felt like Bradley Cooper in Limitless. Mental clarity, tons of energy. Most people just don't push through past the 72 hour mark.

Like I said, made it 11 days. Probably could have gone longer honestly. Fasting is insanely good for you if you do it correctly.

For the last 99% of the brouhaha, it was the latter, to the best of my knowledge. And then every time she responded to those new insults and mockeries, the firestorm reaction doubled down. And on and on it has gone, compounding.

People have no prudential obligation to say everything they feel. It makes no difference from the point of view of prudence if "she started it" once long ago in galaxy far away.

What is the good? For our player to give his all for Tennessee. For our team to have a great locker room and to play for one another. For our team to win games. What is conducive to the good? Refraining from attacking a family member of one of our players.

No one gets to pick his or her own family. And nearly everyone responds viscerally to a family member being attacked ("rightly or wrongly). They are "one's own."

That's what's behind "your mama" jokes. Save the "your mama" jokes for Bama and Georgia. I'm not going to talk about it anymore.
But she originally started it?

Im with you though. I don’t even have twitter or X or whatever, but if I did I still wouldn’t engage players or their families, for any reason really.

Back and forth attack’s are absolutely useless and unnecessary.

With that said, I don’t absolve her of responsibility.

I'm gonna try it

That was one of my favorite plays of this decade, easily. Just pushed those bammers right into the end zone. They apparently didn't even recognize the formation so they didn’t know what to do.
Our 2022 win marked the most points ever scored against a Nick Saban Alabama team. 52, bishes. Suck it, Bama.

I'll leave it to smarter people to cipher if this is good or bad.

In our case, imo it’s trimming the fat and making way for more talented guys to play. Addition by subtraction

Florida imo has been a dumpster fire

The others on the list have just recruited too much talent that in the day and age of NIL doesnt want to wait 2-3 years to start like they used to.

I have no idea and I'm not going to do the X archeology to find out. My conjecture is that it started when trolls and negavols started rant-posting that if Boo had missed team meetings or workouts before Fall practice started, he could GTFO. (You remember that, a couple of weeks ago?) And my guess is she talked back to that. And twit brigade doubled down. Which was a dumb and self-destructive take to thematize en masse, to begin with, and it started before all the facts were even known. The news had prolly tapped into negative vibes leftover from Nico.

Boo took a recruiting trip to Colorado when we were originally recruiting him. He might have already committed: I don't remember. I wouldn't be surprised if "then he can GTFO" rant-posts originally started about the Colorado stuff at that time. It's very likely that she responded, and not unlikely with some less than optimal remarks. That it became a part of the recent feud was prolly people tacking on an old resentment, the way people, when they are angry, sometimes go back to the beginning of time and make a list of everything someone has done wrong. Or maybe she remembered the earlier mess and made a dig about Deion or whatever she said in response to the GTFO bruhs.

There is a prehistory. When we were recruiting Boo, his mom joined VN and posted in his player thread. Someone (I think it was LittleV) compared Boo to someone in the NFL, I don't remember who. Boo's mom, apparently misunderstanding that favorable comp to be an insult -- that her baby was not an original but "like" someone else -- went off about it. As far as I could tell, she really had no idea about player comps. She definitely took it somehow as an insult. Anyway, a bunch of people in Boo's thread went after Boo's mom for going off. They were "right," that she reacted in a less than civil manner, but it didn't seem smart to me to "tell off" a top recruit's mom. And they just wouldn't stop. Food fight. Finally, thankfully, Freak nuked her account before his recruitment was destroyed.

Bottom line: As you said, she doesn't have to have been right for our fans to make a prudential decision not to fight it out with a player's mother in public. She does not have a strong record of using a lot of discretion in her posts. She is definitely very proud of Boo, as any mom would be.

(I keep geting roped back in. 😂)

I will wager easy completions for Aguilar on the first drive. Several RPO sideline screens. First deep shot on 2nd drive

Did you workout while doing it too? That’s what scares me about doing a long fast is working out.

At least his Dad and his Dad’s entourage will have their pick of seats in the rose bowl every home game. Maybe even have the entire section to themselves.
Going from 102,000 to 2,000….LOL. What do you think Nico is getting paid per ticket sold?
