Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Kyler has such good info but he can never talk because his co-host blabbers on about non sense. 10 minutes in and he’s still talking about Kyler staying the night and his golf game.
It truly is tiring to try to get to watchable content on that pod--i.e Kyler'slips start moving. My fear is that Kyler is handicapping himself with the loyalty he's showing an old friend.

Play gmac if we are scheming around our qb situation. By the end of the season the record will be the same.
I feel the same. Although I would still like to see Aguilar get the first shot. He seems to be a gamer and has a lot of swagger in him. I think that would be huge for a young team.

But if he struggles, you switch to Gmac and play for the future. I think this is an 8-10 win team regardless.

I never pay attention to one of my neighbors. Barely ever look their direction. No hate, just mind my business, etc. . .

. . .I was thinking I'd put up a massive flag pole and a giant flag, like a 80'x200' flag to fly about 250' up a pole, 😂. I am sure it would send that karen flying off the rails every time she drives by. Yes, I can be petty. . .

I walked out this morning and sat on the front porch for a minute, because it's raining. I look around and I noticed that neighbor has put up a huge flag pole with an American flag and a @Jackcrevol flag. I'd like to think that is what lit her fuse, 😂

Anyway, our brains are weird. I have no clue when he put that up and it's something I should've noticed. I probably noticed that flagpole subconsciously and it made me think of putting up a pole.
You said pole...a lot...

Fanbase too stupid to leave it be
You rang?
Voltwitter giveth, and Voltwitter taketh away. It is like VolNation on meth/steroids. The Negas @ every player, family member, coach whatever to bitch at constantly.
The pumpers cuss the Negas and the cycle continues. Really, the only ones you can't respect for playing their part are the ones who pay for Twitter and try to monetize free information from Volnation, Volquest, Vern down at the Tasty Freeze.

Because Spillman is quicker and likely a draft pick one day. Telander is a great dude and loves his team, but he is not on the level of Spillman and Carter who will both be drafted one day. He is a good linebacker, but the other two are freaks, along with some of the freshmen. And you don’t just get so much more speed because you get a year older. Like I said, it’s a good problem to have.
Not necessarily true on the speed part. There are plenty of ways to get faster. Especially in football.
I am just so happy that we can now have the discussion about which of our SEC level players should start. It’s reminds me of the good old days when we were getting multiple top players drafted every year!

that's quite a rant. lez be honest, her passive aggressive maneuver woke you up. we see it on the tree streets a lot hyurr, as the area around ETSU is am oasis in land of well...

Not a huge Cain fan, but he did as good a job as anyone summarizing current state of affairs. Covered positive and negatives of depth. Ranked teams we are playing and, and answered some qusstions. In case anyone is looking to summarize without watching or reading hours of content.

I've literally never heard a single person say a good thing about him. I was a kid at the time and had anti-Vols kids heckle me about how they heard from so-and-so that Dooley was a prick.

Pruitt was also an a-hole but his players mostly loved him (Juaun for example). Nobody liked Dooley.
I am having trouble giving you a like because of your next to last sentence. The statement that anyone likes pruitt should be buried deeper than Jimmy Hoffa. 😳

FYP: Pruitt was also an a-hole. Nobody liked Dooley.

7-5 is absolutely possible and should not have his seat warm in the slightest, assuming our 2026 class stays together. 8-4 is definitely the most likely outcome for our season. I agree, that this team has the talent, ability, and coaching to get to 9 or 10 wins, but 7-5 is probably around the same odds, maybe even more likely than 10 wins, going off the Vegas odds.
5 losses means we lost the big 3 and 2 of Arkansas, Oklahoma, Miss state, Kentucky, Syracuse.

Which isn’t happening

For those worried about Aguilar’s ints:

Hookers int% his last yr at Va Tech was 3.3% and was 1.0 /.6 in his two years at Tennessee

Milton’s int% at Michigan was 2.8% and 1.4% at Tennessee

Heupel’s teams have never had a starting qb that has thrown more than 7 ints. That includes the year he started a true freshman.

i’m sure Aguilar can hit the throws near the LOS and from reports he is a better deep ball passer than the previous qbs. We haven’t had a qb that can hit consistently at the middle level since Hooker left. I think Joey will be fine and with the potential to surprise everyone. Go Vols!!! I can’t wait to travel to Atlanta!

Wonder why he wouldn’t wear a knee brace all season unless they think it slows him down?
Noncontact practice doesn’t need a brace. A big part of ACL rehab is getting the knee to figure out how to properly balance again without the proprioception information from the ACL. That’s why almost all of the ACL rehab is based on closed chain kinetics (foot on the ground) rather than open chain (foot not on the ground). Think balance activities and squats versus leg extensions.

4 teams rank above us on AP poll. That includes OK. I would say any of those 4 could beat us if we aren't clicking.

My "worry" is no one is separating themselves and getting the needed reps for a starter.

My other "worry" is none of the possible starters are throwing passes to our likely or hopefully starting three recievers.

That's the core concern in a nutshell. Someone needs to be pulling away or at least heading that direction this point in camp. Merk by every account was doing worst, but still took 1st team reps yesterday I believe. That's not ideal for growth of the offense.

If they settle on a guy and a couple recieving starters can suit up on same day i will start pumping sunshine.

Since when has the preseason AP poll ever been remotely accurate? For example, in every year of its existence, a top 10 team preseason ends the year unranked
We are a coin flip team imo to climb or fall. I can see both happening 100%. I tend to shake my what if's loose pre-season to help me relax in season.

This team is capable of losing 4 games if this offense is worse than last year. Just my opinion. We are not on a great trajectory to be better offensively than last year. Excited to see that change.

I hope I'm wrong. We have really talented team that I think with above average QB play can get us to 9-3 and good QB play to 10-2. Just no way to say that losing Nico in the spring was anything but devastating for 2025. Maybe long-term a benefit but not right now.

Many want to believe it’s “addition by subtraction” but that doesn’t always apply. Considering the circumstances 9 wins would be amazing.

Of course, and that’s why I said 8-4 is the floor. You replied to me regarding 7-5 where I said that’s not going to happen
