Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Will he get fired? No. Will fans be mad? Yeah. Should fans be mad? No. Should fans be disappointed? Yeah.

I don't think flatly saying 7-5 is possible if the QBs and WRs aren't good is being a Nega. A Nega would be confidently declaring something like "We won't even make a bowl this year, not even worth watching."

I think we go 9-3.
I would be very disappointed with 7-5

From IMO most possible to least possible outcomes

9-3
10-2
8-4
11-1
7-5
12-0
Anything less than 7 wins

Sorry doc, I meant to say

17-0 GB🍊

Does this mean we are the home team in Atlanta? Or ESPN just threw something out there. I've been wondering. I would love to see our orange jerseys! GB🍊!

It would sorta be cool if Syracuse wore blue. UTsports:

We need to go back to the Tennessee vs the Red Team game in Orange and Red jerseys now that asshat is no longer there to object.

Their bikes are all electric motorized contraptions. Little tools don't even have to pedal.

No offense to anyone with kids with electric motorized bikes. They are just the most saddest things I have seen in a while. The struggle and benefit that came from having to pedal a bike was just a part of childhood that appears to be lost at this point. Makes me sads.
Bonus daughter decides to ride bike on a ~85 degree day. Rides down and back “up” our street, maybe 1/10th of a mile total, the back “up” was too hard. Goin back inside. It’s prob 2% grade 🙄

I don't think it'll warm up. He just went to the playoffs, 😂. It may raise a few eyebrows though.
Going from the playoffs in year 4 to the same record as year 1 in a much worse roster situation would definitely put a little warmth under the seat imo (not by me)

I hope I'm wrong. We have really talented team that I think with above average QB play can get us to 9-3 and good QB play to 10-2. Just no way to say that losing Nico in the spring was anything but devastating for 2025. Maybe long-term a benefit but not right now.
Maybe you have already said, but what do you think of the WR room, for this year

Was gonna be bad enough starting the season with Nico and a bunch of inexperienced young WR's (Heup and Co chose this), and I was hoping JA would come in and get some chemistry going and gel with the WR's we have, but unfortunately it's looking like this isn't gonna happen anytime soon, and with basically a new OL, the only thing that will save us from going worse than 7-5 will be how much our defense steps up and saves us... If our WR's get hurt/dinged up like last season, Heup may have to hold open tryouts in the middle of the season...

If we can finally get some experienced and/or elite WR's, the Oline will be more experienced, next season should be night and day...

I think this is reasonable. If I had to bet all of my money on predicting a record for this year it would be 9-3, mostly because of the unknowns.

Splitting hairs here, but of the wheels somehow completely fall off due to injury I could see 7-5 as the floor. Of everything, and I mean EVERYTHING clicks, I could see 12-0 as the ceiling
Injuries everywhere and we could be 7-5

Hard to find the 5th loss though. UF, AL, UGA and Oklahoma then.....Arky? but like...that's a revenge game. Maybe Ms St in stark? Vandy here???

Easier for me to see 12-0 than 7-5.

Beat UGA because Gunnar doesn't handle the big road game well, defense all over him and we fair our best ever on the LOS. Hit the wide open ones. Home field edge.

Win at Bama because Simpson isn't that great, they struggle blocking us once again and we have the same amount of wide open receivers as last year, only Aguilar hits them.

Overwhelm Oklahoma Neyland at night and squash Mateer.

Same for Florida. Had guys wide open all over the field. Does that happen again and can we hit them? Is Florida in shambles by then? Lagway hurt?

Maybe you have already said, but what do you think of the WR room, for this year
I think they’re more talented than last years (Squirrel and Bru were quite limited as players) but they’re young, inexperienced, can’t stay healthy and were thin.

Historically it’s been harder for younger kids to crack the rotation because we don’t sub and run choice routes so you have to know the full playbook and the route trees of choices to play. That’s just not going to work this year with us needing to play Jackson and Smith (and likely Boo) so will require tweaking the overall offense.

Matthews and Brazzell seem to be easing back into it but Staley can’t stay healthy which is scary.

It’s also just not in a great place right now. I have higher hopes for the potential of how it could play out than QB but the floor could get messy quick if people get hurt.

GM would have to report into Danny or Cam for it to work, which I just don't see happening. We might hire or promote a nominal GM that will assuage some concerns, but unless it's into Danny or Cam, it's lipstick on same situation.
That's unfortunate. Maybe with enough evidence he'll arrive at that conclusion on his own.

This is my fear and WR and QB lack of confidence could send that spiraling quickly.

I'd bet the over on tight end receptions.

Considering Heup took his team to the playoff last year I’m gonna guess he’s not too concerned about working without a GM
He has a lot of leverage no doubt. It will be interesting to watch. He already micromanages the offense. I just worry about him getting stretched too thin and also not getting enough new ideas or outside perspectives. That's one aspect I've liked about Rick. As his career has progressed he's opened up to more people managing more aspects.

I’m not even referencing leverage really. Just that doing it his way has us 30 wins in last 3 years and a playoff appearance.

From where things were when he took it over, the man has performed an exorcism on the program. I’m sure he’s looking to improve but I doubt he sees a glaring weakness currently.

My neighbor's 13 year old boy asked me if I have any work for him to make a dollar. He wants to buy a ps5 or whatever the new game system is. I told him I'd give him $250 to pressure wash my decks and privacy fence.

He worked for about 2 or 3 hours when a lady I've never seen before pulls in. She jumped out crying that I have "a 10 year old working out in the summer heat". . . saying that there are businesses that do this type of work and kids shouldn't be doing it. I told her not to worry about it, mind her down business and get the he** out of here. I fully expect her husband to be here any minute crying about how I talked to her. . .

I remember doing this type of work when I was 13. What the heck is wrong with people these days?
My family would have killed me if i didnt help lol1000018698.jpg

I can make a meme or two also...

Jackie the GSD up to her tricks. I took her for a walk. She has one of her chew toys or balls rather precisely at each of the four corners of our yard (or, more exactly, at the location of her invisible fence). I told wifey, Jackie must have been a surveyor in a past life.

Wifey: I hate to break it to you, but that's bait. 😂

The podcaster starts off as an agnostic and through his research and time doing the podcast, he becomes a Christian. It is pretty interesting to hear how he lines up all the Mesopotamian and Biblical histories.

I’ll definitely have to check it out..do you have any links?
