Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

My neighbor's 13 year old boy asked me if I have any work for him to make a dollar. He wants to buy a ps5 or whatever the new game system is. I told him I'd give him $250 to pressure wash my decks and privacy fence.

He worked for about 2 or 3 hours when a lady I've never seen before pulls in. She jumped out crying that I have "a 10 year old working out in the summer heat". . . saying that there are businesses that do this type of work and kids shouldn't be doing it. I told her not to worry about it, mind her down business and get the he** out of here. I fully expect her husband to be here any minute crying about how I talked to her. . .

I remember remember doing this type of work when I was 13. What the heck is wrong with people these days?
If she's that much of a Karen, she ain't married. If she is, I pity her husband.

Should have shot her and helped the poor guy out.

Unless I listened to it wrong

they didn't mention the QB's. Which is insane.

Talked a lot about how good several freshmen were. Smith Jr, Brame, Duane Morris etc.

Said the practice and scrimmage overall was good. Like a great practice.

There's a whole section about how good we are on the LOS.
At the VERY end, they mentioned not mentioning the QBs, lol. Kyler had a look on his face like it's not bad news. Basically just said that they are not going to jeapordize his access to the program by talking about it. My impression is that he's not disappointed or negative on what he saw.

What the hayull?! She needs to mind her own business. Shiii by time I was twelve had a full fledged lawn mowin' bidness.
I still like pressure washing in the summer. You get to play in the water and get something done at the same time, 😂. I figured that would be a halfway fun/easy job for a 13 year old that he couldn't really screw up.

Yeah and Jayson Swain didn't mention them either today as far as I heard.

Yeah good sign they didn't seem stressed. Between them, Ainge and Swain...they definitely seem more worried about the WR's than anything. Ainge went into pretty good detail about all 3, from fundamentals and how they ran the offense and...I'm starting to think the QB's "struggles" are being overblown a bit.

Funny when I was younger I got offered same kind of coin, and to stain. Went and drank beer instead.

Today, id do it for free.

Kyler actually sounded impressed with a young, unkown WR or two. He didn't seem worried much about the WRs.

And I've been positive the QB woes are overblown, if for no other reason than the fact that the ones creating the woes haven't seen the QBs work, and are just quoting everyone else that haven't seen the QBs work. And the Vol fans lap it up and get suicidal as usual. Rince, repeat.

Few musings

George looks great but unfortunately he's just so thin. I don't think he's quite ready to handle a full season physically. Aguilar will definitely be the guy going into game one imo.

Physically the freshman are quite impressive. David Sanders is a man. Brame, Radarious Jackson, Morris, Dye.

Linebackers will be the best we've had in a long time.

No real dynamic playmakers on offense it seems (right now at least).

Secondary will be better if McCoy comes back even close to healthy. DL isn't as twitchy but is really solid.

I'd expect OL to be better than last year. Moe was a good pickup. Pendleton is just a body. Perry will be good. Heard and Warren are in better shape.

QB play is really just a killer right now. Nico (and Carnell Tate) really hosed us as this could've been a real championship caliber team.
This places us as better or similar in all positions but WR and QB. Which was our Achilles last year. I still think we are better off than if Nico stayed and was a distraction.

I think Pendleton is fine. Not a difference market but ok. Wish he was better. Satterwhite isn't yet equipped to be a starter in the SEC unfortunately imo.
Not sure what you think you know, but if he came in and got worse, would be the only reason he isn’t going to be a good starter for us, because again that ND OL was one of the tops in the country and he played almost every snap for them. So either you have no clue what you are talking about or somehow someway he came here and has gotten progressively worse. So which is it?

May be our scheme asks different things of him.

I disagree, respectfully. And I think the coaches are adapting to new college football too. These kids will transfer in a heartbeat and are looking to play three years max now. You have to play them early or they leave. It’s the new college football. It’s why you see UGA, us, and others having mostly underclassmen filling our team. It’s the new way. Times have changed and you can’t redshirt and develop talent for years.

Hmm, I do agree there. You'd look silly if your big time freshman recruit transferred before you ever got to see him on the field. There are still pros and cons to playing them though, especially if they aren't your best option for winning the most games during the current season. I think QB is the main position that you would have to consider everything. If they're a great recruit at any other position and they can make a difference on the field then you have to play them no question. I did assume that already happens but Mike Matthews lack of playing time has me questioning that.

I do think it does take a little to get used too this scheme, but Sam was really good on that ND OL and so I have no second thoughts on him coming into this system and doing well, especially since it’s not like he missed spring practice and only got summer program to get going. I think he has a good chance of being an All SEC player here. Only thing that concerns me with him is going from 70 snaps a game to 100. In the end though, he was a nasty power blocker at ND so I think he might be asked a few things different here but in the end more power is what we need and he brings it.

Sounds absolutely miserable.
It was. I spent around $600 on different shoes over the course of that time and kept thinking I had not found the right shoe to fix the issue. Massaged it out with a cheap massage gun from amazon and within a couple of weeks the pain was gone. When you start to realize that much of the soreness/ligament pain is from pulled muscles connecting directly to the ligament it allows for more simplistic remedies.

I think we beat them all. Aguilar is gonna look as good as he did in '23, probably better due to the scheme change. Our wrs are studs, our rbs are too, our OL is improved, our defense is elite. We have Heupel, and he's a dang smart genius when it comes to game planning a team.

We'll play in the SEC title game and have a 1st round bye in the natty tourney.
Are you agreeing with Doc? 16-0?

I like the idea of adjunct professor - or maybe working at a museum or library so I don’t have to deal with people.

And then I’ll volunteer as an asst coach for my grandkids’ sports teams.

That wougld be the life!
Wal Mart Greeter. Nothing better. For me personally, I wouldn't mind a role at Universal Studios.

No sir. Not sure what you think you know, but he got benched halfway through the year and played only an avg 11 snaps a game on offense for them the last 6 games of the season. He's fine and will start but nothing special. Glad we have him though.

I've had my disagreements with @KingVFL, but the "think you know" is largely displaced. He comes with good information and is liberal in admitting when he's posting opinion.

It's not unlikely that Sam may be struggling ATM in a new scheme, and if he is, that doesn't mean he will not work through it and continue to get his legs under him. (Hell, it may just be conditioning in this tempo. Who knows? It'd probably be a great idea to ask @KingVFL what he's seen and why he said that.)
