Eh. Basically, all I'm saying is that we made it to the playoffs with "pretty good" QB play. That level of play is not what got us 10 wins and into the playoffs. He didn't set this huge bar for our current QB room to clear. Some folks (not you) are acting like we lost Hendo at the last minute and we have to scramble to fill those shoes.Nico was pretty good. Not great but still part of the team that made the playoffs. Most likely he would have taken another step forward this season which is what we’re going to miss most. Not having a guy with that experience in the system is unfortunate.

We didn't. I suspect we'll probably have just as good a running game and defense. And really, those are what got us into the playoff, not Nico's "pretty good" play.
And like I said, he DEFINITELY didn't prove enough to make him worth the cost of precedent and culture per Nico's camp blackmailing the program.
Good riddance. Next man up. I hope he's happy getting 4-5 wins and watching bowl season from Cali.
I agree but figured there's no need to pick a fight on that point. Even "pretty good" makes the bulk of the argument. He was below pretty good in sec play.
They have a lot of their tough games on the road too. I can see them maybe making a bowl game with some luck, but I doubt his draft prospects will be very good with that new coach, tough schedule and likely bad stats, so he'll be looking at a whole extra year in college. Just dumb dumb dumb of that family for sure.I agree but figured there's no need to pick a fight on that point. Even "pretty good" makes the bulk of the argument.
I'm not wishing ill on Nico, but it will be interesting to see how Nico/UCLA perform with their schedule, his supporting cast, and whatever play they get out of him in a new system without a full offseason to grasp it. Many forget that whatever he did to UT, he's done to himself as well. (He's getting just as short of a prep season as JA is.) His ego and camp really did some damage for him. I truly hate to see it.
With all that said, UT will bear the weight of his decisions much better than he will, I suspect.
Last year Aguilar averaged about 27 yards per game, and that was considered a bad year for him by some. Nico was just over 200.
I think he'll be able to be better than last year, even if he isn't as good as in '23. We'll win some games if he can maintain a 275 yard average and cut the ints in half (7). If he does that (it's realistic to think he will), we'll be right back in the hunt for a playoff spot.
