i would take a couple more picks ( as long as they arent pick 6's) if it means another 8-10 TDs thru the air

watching nico stare at a receiver for 5 minutes then compound it by being unsure about running was just awful to watch.
Nico took care of the ball. We won 10 games. Hard to argue with results.

Dont want to trade missed deep throws, with no int, for ints.

Nico threw 5 TDs in conference play up until the last one vs Vandy. That wont get you where you want if it happens again.

He barely participated in the games and we got where we did bc of the defense, coaching and RBs.

the defense was awesome and it will be again but the offense has to score more and be more aggressive. Cant live like we did in 2024 every yr bc the result wont be the same. Putting everything on your defense constantly is ridiculous. So yeh, give me more TD passes.

I really don't care about a deep ball. I would rather the QB be accurate on slant routes and 15 yard curl routes.
You better care about a deep ball because if NicoRina didn't overthrow a bunch of those last year....we are probably sitting at 11-1 and hosting a playoff game. The deep ball is what makes this offense scary and if we don't have that....then it will be just like last year...not 22'.

I get what you are saying but the deep ball shots are critical to the function of the offense though. They have to be hit on a semi-regular basis.
Completely agree.

A lot people miss that Heup's O is built on spreading the field to create spacing. If they are bad at hitting deep passes, which they were, the D does not have to respect it. They can play inside shoulder and single cover the wide outs. That also means more defenders closer to the LOS, which hurts the run and short passing games. So the O-line may look worse than it actually is because part of the O is missing and the D knows it.

I choose to believe this offense could be super productive with JA. Granted, it's with little data so if I am correct, it will be largely by accident. lol

But it's been a couple of QBs ago that I've seen the ability to hit the intermediate routes like he does here:

Aguilar will be better than Drew Locke in his 2nd year under Heupel 👀

Decoding the notes from scrimmage. Seems like the run game won’t see a drop off and the same could be said about our defense. Curious to see if any reporters will ask Sam Pendleton(Sp?) if he sees a difference from facing our defense compared to ND.

I don’t know how the QB competition will play out but I think we see Joey on the first drive against cuse’

It’ll be interesting to see how Joey does with a much simpler offense and not having to play down 3-4 scores.

what are you basing “I don’t think Heupel can coach it out of him” on? The 15 minutes of routes on air the media sees, or the first scrimmage he ever played in for the Vols?

We don’t have ANY context from the scrimmage, what situations they put him in, who he was playing with or against.

Also, his best season in a less QB friendly offense he threw 33 TDs and 10 picks. JGs best season he has 16 TDs and 8 picks.

Maybe give Heup more than a week of practice with him to determine if he can “coach it out of him”??

Edit*** I don’t mean that to sound harsh. Just think we should reserve judgement
You forgot what site you were posting on didn't you. Reserve judgment? Not on this site where our posters eat their young :) :) :) :)
