No new info, but the WNBA gets paid less because it brings in less money than the NBA. Player salaries are based on league revenue, and the NBA makes billions through TV deals, ticket sales, and sponsorships. The WNBA's viewership and demand are much lower, so there's less money to go around.
Don’t see how they dont understand that
None of them would pay millions for no return on a business unlike nil lol

This is true, but I don't believe it's what they are arguing. They receive 9.3% of revenue while the NBA (and all other major league men's sports) receive a roughly 50% split of league revenues.

I don't really watch and don't know their financials. Yes, the league makes significantly less. I think they just want more of "what the league does make." They aren't asking for a salary like an NBA All-Star.

Anyone got any Plantar Fasciitis recommendations? Just now experiencing this. Right heel feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife in the mornings. Wears off as the day goes.

Inserts the best?
Inserts, stretching it, and taking some days off from aerobic exercise worked for me. Hasn’t recurred. But I would wait for Doc and/or Dooby15 to weight in.

I'll point out one major issue...WNBA always mentions the big 3 for professional sports... they're actually closer to the MLS than they are the NBA despite playing the same sport.

And based on this article:
Get the Facts: How do WNBA players salaries compare to other leagues?

They're on par with the sports that aren't pulling in huge viewership.

One thing I found kind of funny...the gap between WNBA highest paid player and lowest is tiny compared to every other major sport listed in that article...almost like the internal resentment among players is holding the league back...

They would be paying the WNBA then. The WNBA has operated on millions of dollars of losses for years. The NBA subsidizes them millions so they can continue on. Without the NBA keeping them afloat, the league wouldn’t exist. So asking for more money makes no sense when they operate at a massive loss.

I am not arguing all that because I said I didn't really know. You can find some information where economists suggest that the NBA itself has publicized losses for leverage. I was just clarifying their argument because the first posts weren't exactly saying that.

The WNBA also just reached a $2.2 billion dollar media deal that (I would presume) change some financials. They are trying to leverage that, too.

Their current CBA is up Oct. 31st...seems like they'll have the leverage this time with the recent growth. But I don't think it's at the point where they need to be protesting. They're playing under their agreement...one that has seen top salary growth from 2019 to 2020 of 83%. They want more then negotiate it after Oct. 31st when it's appropriate.

you cant measue by revenue as it doesnt account for costs, you have to measure by profitabilty.

We all have addictions. Posting here can be an addiction.

First thing is I have to admit that I have an addiction or problem. Until I make the decision to change an unhealthy habit it doesn't matter. I am responsible for me, no one else is. It sucks to do the right thing many times, but I have to know better than to continue down a destructive and unhealthy path. I can make excuses or create effective solutions to my problems.
Yes, I have noted lots of addicts on Volnation. Damn junkies.

Leagues split with players and other teams by revenue sharing. Not profit-sharing. I am not a financial guy, but there is a reason for it. Part of it is for competitive balance because small market teams don't make as much.

It's a little misleading of an argument on their part though. Revenue sharing usually only happens in situations where the company is actually in the black. If revenue is nowhere near covering the costs of the business, it's hard for employees to argue they should get a larger share of the revenue.

"Fair" would be to shutter the league entirely because it's a bad business. In reality, it's a charity that the NBA supports with the profits from their other business that actually does make money. It would be weird in any other situation for charity beneficiaries to tell their benefactors that they should give more money, but that's pretty much what they're doing here.

So you're right they're not demanding 9 figure salaries like NBA players, but charity beneficiaries really shouldn't be demanding anything. They exist because of the generosity of the people to whom they are making demands. I'd argue that encouraging girls sports is a worthy cause, so I hope the NBA continues to support that charity; but I have a hard time saying it isn't fair that they're not sharing revenue like a profitable league.

Hey you guys... would really love if yall could help out my son in this contest. Voting for the 1st round eends tonight. Appreciate all the help!

I'm trying to vote, but it's making me verify with facebook. Not a big deal, but I can't login to FB without verifying my FB password from another device. . . that I don't have with me, 😂

They should just split the profits evenly. . .

The volleyball player is gone.

I hope the coaching staff has learned a lesson from that experience. SEC QB cannot have a slim delicate frame that suits a non contact sport like volleyball. Should not evaluate 7 on 7 performances instead of full contact performances.

We have two QBs that look physically big enough to play in the SEC . The 3rd QB is a true freshman and can add weight to his frame. He needs 30 lbs of muscle to be able to survive the season grind of the SEC. He should be drinking a protein shake whenever he’s not actively participating in a play. Heck, I would have him wear a Camel pack filled with protein shakes and drink continuously.
Right...because you can look at our team and tell our strength and conditioning coaches don't know what they're doing.
