Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

It might go down. Florida could easily be unranked by the time we play them. Oklahoma also has a tough schedule and would be difficult for them to be ranked by the time we play Nov 1st. I'm not sure any of our other opponents will be top 25 this season.
Well judging by pre season rankings isn’t the answer either. Some teams will surprise some will disappoint. You certainly can’t determine strength of schedule before anybody plays. GBO

Man guys ran wide open ALOT and Pajama boy could not hit them at all. Imagine how that changes the offense and so many of our drives if he could hit the broadside of a barn. It was quite literally every game we played.
Pajama Boy! 😄 I like that. Let’s get it trending!

I do think the scheme is an important part of what makes the offense go, especially in 2022. Spreading the field vertically and horizontally, having fast WRs (or at least one burner with great hands), and having an accurate QB who can hit deep balls is basically impossible to consistently defend unless you have an elite pass rush and elite DBs. That's how UGA held us in check in 2022.

But Heupel doesn't have to have all of those to win, as evidenced in 23 and 24. And to me, what he did those seasons basically on the fly is the most impressive thing he has done at UT. More than all of 2022. His offense didn't work and he adapted and still won games. Many, many coaches would have fallen apart or insisted on making their scheme work.
I absolutely agree that his way of building offenses is a key part. What I meant by "System" was more like Butch's playbook. He wasn't an offensive savant that crafted a scheme to the needs of the moment, he had that McDonald's mindset where the System was king and the players were just playing their role in the System. That is absolutely something that could be "figured out', but that isn't Heupel.

This doesn't fit some narratives -

I thought Elarbee was too weird and awkward to string two sentences together, much less convince people to do anything?? I mean, that is what I've read, over and over and over and over...

...and over and over and...
