You got me, but for Heupel to fire a coach, it would have to be for a criminal offense or morally degenerate behavior....that became public. Short of that, nope. Happened to him and he just won't do it to someone else.

He's let coaches go, its just not a disgraced "firing". Coaches have moved on when they weren't cutting it here. If I recall correctly, Ekeler's contract was set to expire when he left.

Isn’t like the entire O staff on expiring contracts this year? Thought I heard that on a pod. Or made it up. Also a possibility.

They need contract year level motivation. Banks made excellent use of his. IMO

Heupel will be fired before he lets a coach go. Just isn't in him.

Fire may be a strong term. Many offensive coaches have expiring contracts. Only true one that will never be let go is Elarbee.

Yes I see what you’re saying. But those weren’t CJH QB’s. Milton was brought in by this staff the others by cornbread. By all accounts Milton was their guy. They were gonna roll with him and force feed him until his injury

Milton did look the best though in practice according to practice reports.

All im saying is, I think there’s something to Merk still taking first reps and he’s always the first qb pictured in posts from the vols fb accounts on twitter and instagram

Pretty wild to see how big the disconnect between fans' perception and what's really going on in the program can be. Most people would've bet $ that Ekeler was one of our best coaches.
