Yes, we’re all painfully aware.Man the WR room is scary. 7 scholarship guys with very little production/experience. 3 are true freshman with one only getting to campus over the summer. Matthews and Brazzell are already missing time and AP said Jefferson won’t be a factor.
Lots of two tight end sets coming this year. Maybe not a popular opinion, but that position has been mismanaged for this year imo.
have… for several years. Milton was already qb1 5 practiced in, and Hooker/hb/maurer were all above him here seniority wise! If JA was any better than Merk, he would’ve been 1st up more times than just one by now, so imo Merk is at least neck and neck with jaNo slight towards you but then you might not of played team sports.
New guy doesn’t just come in and take over for a guy who has been there. The guy who just came in has to earn and fight for that spot. It’s important for the team to see it and feel it too.
Oh look another lame AP bashing postBoo was again at practice. This time with a helmet.
That’ll be $9.99

Why? He has more experience in Heupels system. Probably has more trust and respect of the players and from what reports have said is a vocal leader. What? Did you think just because JA has experience that he would be christened QB1? Merk isn’t a slouch.I find it interesting that Merk has been the 1st qb in for routes vs air and with the 1st wr’s for 4 of the 5 practices
For sure... In high school. That's certainly not a thing in the NFL. It's a business and everyone who walks through the door understands that at a deep and fundamental level. No slight towards you but then you might not of played team sports.

So, is college football closer to the NFL or high school?
Oh look another lame AP bashing post. It baffles me how some of you all either don’t like AP or just seem to have little respect for what he does. Without him and Hubbs VQ woild be nothing and then there would be no inside info coming out.
No doubt. Processes what he see quickly and well to go along with the arm and mobility.Basilio said that the coaches believe GMac has the highest ceiling and overall talent, but is just too skinny to survive the SEC right now. Good for the long term but shouldn’t be a factor this Fall. Not a surprise but encouraging for the future.
Yes, we’re all painfully aware.
I vote we sacrifice @TN-POSSUM as tribute for a healthy and dropless WR season.

Basillyo creating drama for listenersWow, I heard this too.
I also heard Basilio yesterday on his show say just the opposite at least about the QBs. He said everything he is hearing is that none of the three looks good at all. He said the coaching staff secretly knows we must rely on a strong running game and defense much like 2024.
Here’s hoping Ainge is right and Basilio is wrong.
I don't think Collinsworth watched much of Hendon at UT. Hendon read defenses and predicted throws better than any QB we've had so far. And if it were such an easy-peasy system then Joe and Nico should've easily thrived in it but they didn't (of course, then maybe that's an indication of the quality of WRs since Hyatt and Tillman left).
Point is, if Hendon is struggling to adjust to the Lion's offense that's not because he played at TN and TN is NOT the only college team who spreads it out and simplifies the offensive reads. It also sure as heck doesn't mean other TN QBs won't be able to make that adjustment. It just means the NFL is hard as heck.

Can't imagine how frustrated Heupel will be if the passing game struggles again. But I also can't 100% fault him for it being disappointing 2023-2025 (assuming it struggles again this year).
He thought he could fix Milton in 2023. He did... sort of. But not to the level he thought he could. He also had true FR all-world recruit Nico in his back pocket just in case.
Then, he thought Nico would be better than he was as a RS FR. But so did pretty much everyone else in CFB.
And finally, he thought Nico would still be here and taking a step in year two as a starter.
I don't think any of those assumptions are indicative of poor planning or judgement. Milton is on an NFL roster and has incredible arm talent, Nico being underwhelming as a RS FR was unexpected, and obviously, Nico peacing out was extremely unexpected.
Besides Ainge, who have you read or heard comment on it that has even watched an entire practice?Yeah routes on air versus live fire are 2 different things. Ainge is the only one I have heard that thinks the competition is not close. He will likely end up right regardless how close it is or isn't. Joey has so much more experience he's the obvious choice. But he may not be Hooker accurate either. It may very much look like Nico and Milton.
