Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

We only fly once in a blue moon. Never felt it worth the effort. Really just wish the government agency would get it's stuff together, but I know that the chances of that are better than Andy winning a NC in any sport than that actually happening.

It’s about $100 total per person and lasts 5 years. With certain types of Amex cards the fee will be reimbursed. I was reluctant to get it but now I don’t take off shoes, belt, jacket, etc. Don’t have to take out liquids or laptop. Just basically walk through and the line is typically shorter anyway. Not trying to sell you on it because I don’t want all you plebs clogging up the line. ;)

Man the WR room is scary. 7 scholarship guys with very little production/experience. 3 are true freshman with one only getting to campus over the summer. Matthews and Brazzell are already missing time and AP said Jefferson won’t be a factor.

Lots of two tight end sets coming this year. Maybe not a popular opinion, but that position has been mismanaged for this year imo.
Does Jefferson suck or is he not healthy?

If we have a good season I think it will be from the running game and defense. Maybe we get some nice production from the passing game but it doesn’t sound like we’ll be high flying like 2022.

Too bad about Jefferson I read the same somewhere else.

Listening to the Ainge show. He was at practice Sunday and here are some things he said. Roughly speaking.

Travis Smith looks more like a junior physically and looks good. Same for the other freshman WR's.

O-line and D-line, the off the bus factor is indeed present.

Liked a drill the DB's were doing where they wore something on their hands where they couldn't grab.

Said of all the players Ethan Davis looked really impressive. Joey hit him on some back shoulder throw in team period that caught his eye especially. (will have to go back and listen)

Was impressed with all the QB's, but Joey is way ahead in the processing, poise, getting the ball out quick category. The other two got the happy feet going and looked closer to how Joe and Nico looked. Otherwise, both freshman made plays and looked like good football players. Joey accurate and didn't turn it over.

I don't understand the inconsistency on the laptop, shoes, belt, and liquids thing. Those seem rarely enforced now even in the regular security line. Or they will be enforced selectively and randomly. Some airports on some days require you to take your shoes off but leave your laptop in your bag. Then it's the opposite at others. And the TSA employees always act like you're an idiot for not knowing what their arbitrary rule is for that specific day when you walk up to the conveyor belt.

Their presence is a significant deterrent. Needs improvement but also still needs to exist.
I respectfully disagree. Some of the methods they use like X-ray could absolutely be implemented without their continued presence, or at the very least with a greatly reduced number of personnel.

They are holdovers from a tense moment in history, but that doesn’t mean they should have become a permanent fixture. I’m hopeful that with the rise of AI and machine vision, we’ll soon see their jobs eliminated.

And really, the fact that the government knows they’re so ineffective that you can just pay a fee to bypass them should tell you everything you need to know.

All these people applauded Tennessee for how they handled it and now they are the first ones to try and tear UT down. The CFB media is awful just like MLB media
All media, not just social media, has become a platform for stirring up the masses. It's so difficult to determine the validity of anything that's on the news. Most everyone with a microphone and a platform has an agenda and we have to be smart enough to see through the BS.

its scary

also, is Jefferson not any good at all? A room of 7 WRs and already deemed as "not being a factor".

Wow, I heard this too.
I also heard Basilio yesterday on his show say just the opposite at least about the QBs. He said everything he is hearing is that none of the three looks good at all. He said the coaching staff secretly knows we must rely on a strong running game and defense much like 2024.
Here’s hoping Ainge is right and Basilio is wrong.

This sh!t is allowed to go too far. The SEC office signed off on this Gayt 💩 (below). I guess ESPN funding negative recruiting considers itself a rounding error.
He had 2 other critical calls that game.

Going into half we completed a pass at the sideline and could barely toe tsp, but a defender put a hand on him and HE demonstrably wave for a live clock like a progress call to cost us a FG try.

Another review era overturn on a FL TD TOO. It was either a sweep or screen pass and our defender cut him and a post game photo clearly showed 2 knees down, body erect just outside the 1. He gave him the slide and the TD.

As I have shared too many times, some film crew recorded the officials post game meeting and there was no joy, they knew they just changed the game. The NOISE from that call caused a special meeting by NCAA and they put out a rare mid season rule clarification, the Gafney Rule.

Not long after this uproar AM was miraculously moved to Rocky Goode’s crew.., which of course meant he could not call UT games. Not much reading between the lines required on this.

As you can see this game ranks high on my mad list of officiating.

They are very inconsistent and it’s likely due to lack of standardized training. Pre-Check lines are often more organized though.

Airport security is one place where I would gladly welcome AI.

Just have everyone walk through large scanners and let AI instantly scan/flag anything suspicious. Then those people can be subject to further security measures if needed. Guarantee it would be more accurate than actual TSA employees pretending to look at every X-ray and a hell of a lot more efficient.

How many wrs saw the field last year or the year before? Seems like we only use 4-5 guys anyway. At least they won't be crying about playing time.

It’s not an unpopular opinion. It’s the truth. And I don’t think the coaches think it was managed well now either. I think Pope knows he has to recruit some elite talent and fix the room quick or he is in trouble.

Thanks.

One huge truth bomb is that the Birmingham office did NOT fire Allama Matthews. That the SEC Office complicit. Florida should have been ruled ineligible for the Eastern Division title, too.
