Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

All these former coaches thinking they'll be good political leaders. Does it ever work out? Is this just narcissism because they must be in the spot ligt (as opposed to actually serving the people)?
Are they any worse than the other political leaders? Have you met some of those people? Might as well leverage their name recognition, since the majority of politicians are no better. You could argue if they work as hard as they did in football, that would set them above the average politician.

Not sure what people expected when we decided not to reload at WR after losing so many to graduation and the portal... staff knew coming in to camp we have only two WR's with any game experience and both currently are not at full speed. Whatever ends up happening at that position this season is squarely on the staff and AD... they made the decision, now they have to deal with it... no excuses. It is what it is... besides starting a new QB, new starting RB, new Center, new edge rotation, no true timeline on McCoy returning, this is probably one of the factors in folks picking us to finish 9th in the SEC...

I think we are going to shock people with how well we play this season, not worried about any position group except QB and WR... which is expected...

Wasn't even that bad of an underthrown pass. Brian Rice just said he has heard the ball has been hitting the ground more often than they'd like, so there is some concern there. But like, it's been 4 days. Also said he's heard that we shouldn't worry about the Rb's. Ppl are excited about that group.
I vividly remember watching Florida practice clips in 2016 and there being like 8 straight incompletions for routes on air. They proceeded to come out and throw it all over us in the first half of that game 😂. We know how the rest of the game went for them, of course.

Thanks for checking in Eeyore!

1. Way too early to worry about camp reports, good or bad.

2. They should have shored up the receiver position this offseason, regardless.
They should have, but the VQ guys have reiterated they weren’t going to pay supplemental guys the money they were asking, only to sit behind the starting group. They went all in on Tate and it didn’t work out.

Not sure I like that notion of not paying guys to be backups, what has matthews and stayley done to prove they deserve a guaranteed starting spot? They only have 9 catches combined

Looking back at old practice reports, seems as if around the 5th or 6th practice Milton was always the first one up and seemed to be the starter there. With Merk already taking first team reps 3/4 practices thus far with the media in attendance, safe to say if he is predominately the 1st guy up this week he will likely be our guy

I’d love to see Hobbs take the next step and blow up this season
Hobbs has 1st round ability IMO. The look, the recruiting pedigree, the athleticism, and now with the reps I can see him leading the interior linemen in sacks the next two seasons. Will be CRG highest tackle selected in Knoxville so far.
