Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Coldplay scandal is old news. Y’all need to google Eastman Credit Union in the Tricities. Hopefully that wasn’t one of y’all!

“I’ll take the loan without the bone” 🤣
NGL it was old gnus before it hit the cycle.

My work friends sent me that video. Ugh, its really really sad. Why do people find this stuff interesting? Are we just so bored with our own lives ?

There's a lengthy video on YT, that ive linked that details much about him.

Btw i'm not sure there's a noticeable different between a Corryton, Maynardvuhl, er Knoxville accent. Could also be thats just the way Sid talked.

Well Corryton and Maynardville proper are pretty much the same but there's variation from holler to holler in some of the more rural areas (esp. among older folks). Knoxville, it really depends on where you're at as well. But accent differences have been fading out for generations.

You should come up to Kingsport area. Same for Unicoi. It's all one garbled, unintelligible mess of ain'ts, double negatives, etc.

All good, I'm afflicted with same issue.

Well you didnt specify that dear.

Either way, the gamecocks are nothing near our program. Our overall offensive recruiting is, offensive.

nm
Recruiting Rankings must be a fans stat to complain about. Just a guess but CJH and staff probably aren't sitting and staring at the Rankings and saying" OMG, South Carolina has a higher per player average than us".

I'm not even gonna lie. I don't always understand what the hell is being said to me by the people around me and I grew up in E.TN. Some of the accents I've been exposed to are just so different from one another, It took me a very long time to understand that an in-law's wife was named Mary. Now, one would think that would be a simple name to get considering I have so many in my own family but nope. I was too embarrassed to ask but his pronunciation was so different that I simply didn't get it until someone else said her name.

I love the variety tho.

Wow, the Simpsons predicted the Coldplay Kiss Cam. How fo they do this over and over? (Unless AI got me, but I don't think it did). . . no, maybe AI did get me, 😂

Did AI get me?

Also. . . has anyone seen the brothers who wrote "The Matrix" lately? 👀

The brothers are now "sisters".

They've been sisters for eons tho. I just wish they'd make something new. The Matrix and V for Vendetta were amazing but all the freaking Matrix followups were just 'meh' imo. They tried to expand on a story that was told from beginning to end in the first movie. I loved the original but for the love of god do something new.

When we were dating, my (now) wife and I had trouble understanding each other. I talked about a friend named 'Ben', and she'd never heard the name. Thought it was odd as h***, which I thought was odd as h***. Until she figured out that I was pronouncing "Behn" as "Been/Bin".

Dang she was weird, but I've been successfully fixing her. She is now an almost fully recovered yankee.

I am degreed in (mental masturbatory studies) of human communication. While we know there are subsets in the region. And it is interesting to study, er, was.

Nowadays, who has time to pursue such things? Mortgages, retirements, family obligations, the makes-me-work.

Truth is, IQ doesn't care about how one butchers human language. Some of smartest people I know make English sound like mish mash.

Pink Floyd (Division Bell 1994 in Miami) was the best concert (minus KISS) that I have ever seen............I gotta go Floyd!

I saw them 6 times between Momentary Lapse of Reason and Division Bell.
The things they conceived of for their shows were so advanced and so well-designed to match their music rather than just being eye candy was phenomenal. I remember the first time I saw them and they played the opening portion of Shine On You Crazy Diamond. I had gone to the bathroom between sets and of course it was a long line. I could hear that atmospheric start of the song and ran as quickly as I could to my seat as apparently a couple of hundred other people did. We were all jammed together coming out of the tunnel and everyone just froze, transfixed, on that incredible cinematic display where Syd metaphorically goes from childhood to the psychedelic world he had entered after that gypsy girl welcomed him in after he opened the door. Truly the most magical experience I have had at a concert.

And then, of course, the transmutation of the giant "disco ball" as it flipped inside out and became something that resembled that metallic, scarab-type thing for the video from Welcome to the Machine.

And the hospital bed from the insane asylum that the patient takes control of and breaks out of the asylum and takes off flying only to have an actual hospital bed come flying down from the back of the audience into the screen.

They actually played Astronomy Domine in Raleigh for the opening number which I was never expecting and stayed true to the original vibe of that song.

Man, when I go visit my old stomping grounds in low-land GA, it's crazy (to think that that was my accent once), but actually quite beautiful speech. They say I talk like a yankee now. When I get home, my wife is amazed that I so easily fall back into the accent for a while.

They also stole the idea for the Matrix from a Black Woman, who sued and won.

I was just pointing out to Enki that they are no longer "brothers". I agree that the follow ups to the Matrix did not live up to the original. The original trilogy of the Matrix was awesome but I always felt the first one was the best and honestly is my favorite movie ever.

Yeah, they need to transition to a new story. . .

I love Zep, but I do think their "borrowing" of others musical ideas was more egregious than most.

Page is obviously a guitar God. It just seemed like you were drawing a pretty hard line in the sand that wasn't altogether correct.

In the Floyd vs Zeppelin debate I am admittedly on team Floyd. I also hadn't heard much about Gilmour ripping others off in the studio.
What did they borrow? Blues werent exactly jumping out of the River Thames. LOL. Classically trained musicians who wrote, not re route. Carved the path for all subsequent rock and roll bands. Bonham taught it, because he and John Paul ****ing made it.

Was there ever a riff from Page that wasnt perfect for that time and place? His inner tumult felt through the strings.

Dont even get me started on the Lotr corollary.

Early in my tech career--like decades ago--part of my responsibilities was to answer support calls from a product we developed for Canada. Let me just tell you, Canadian women by and large went crazy for a southern drawl.
