Auburn's problem is that they are in the same state as Alabama and that state has limited resources. Same problem South Carolina finds themselves in with Clemson. A lot of these companies investing in college football now aren't alumni of these schools. They see business opportunities. Auburn has the Yellawood guy but where is the money for Hugh's 2026 recruiting class? They aren't even top 50! That wallet must have closed up. I don't believe the diversions that only Auburn is playing by the rules and everyone else's NIL deals will get nulled. Reeks of excuses for not having the $ to compete.
Auburn has always been an outlaw and could compete before the market got so expensive. It is tougher for them to match the market now, that is true for Alabubba as well. The days of giving a top recruit a Charger to seal the deal are over. The bag chasers are going to deeper pockets. The way to compete for less endowed schools is selling relationship and program.

You're right about Alabama. People see how well they are recruiting right now and that's a bit of fool's gold. High School players are cheaper.

Still can’t get too excited about this due to the final arbiter of talent , the NFL DRAFT.

247 picks over 300 4 stars in each class. With fundamentally 2 classes available each year that would be 600 or 500 if you take out previous years draftees to choose from, but last draft only about a hundred 4 stars were drafted, roughy 400-500 were not BUT OVER 100 2&3 stars were.

There you have it. It is WHICH players you sign, regardless of stars that matter. That is why coaches evaluate and take the best they see that they can sign. Bigtime programs are getting the best of the 4 stars not random picks from that group.
