What were we at last season?

Respectfully disagree. It doesn’t take ten years. I mean he has won 30 games in the last three years. That’s top tier. If we get a couple elite recruiters on the offensive staff, we could be elite very fast with NIL. I’m just happy to know we are going to be looked at as a problem and good team. It sucked not being respected for a while.
We're not elite, though. That's the point, and the roster talent composition points to the reason why. To elevate Tennessee to Georgia and Ohio State level, Heupel has to keep stacking 10-win seasons, which in turns boosts recruiting, and then he has to start consistently landing top 10 classes with occasional top 5 classes. It's a process to get there and he's following the path to do it.

30 wins in three seasons and getting trounced first round of the 12-team playoff isn't top tier. It's good, and better than just about anyone expected in Jan. 2021, but it's not elite.

There is a top tier separate from us and it's teams that win national championships. We aren't there yet. There's a team in that tier that we haven't beaten in almost a decade. Getting there is insanely difficult, especially if you aren't in a super talent-rich state. Plenty of very good coaches get to good or even great but not elite.

That's why I'm saying 10-year rebuild. He's halfway there. The next five years is about taking the next step and maintaining it. It's a whole rebuild in and of itself.

To be truly elite year in year on, on offense at least you have to recruit the best players.

Its rare to have a TK or SH type talent.

Truth is who cares if its in porthole or in HS? If it isnt TK go get someone in winter porthole.

We shouldve swung a bigger bat last year, imo

Saggin is in. If there are any other members who aren't going to have time to play this year there is no shame in bowing out. Just let me know as others have expressed interest! We have a 14 team league right now. We could probably do 16 if we have two more that really want to play...

I remain surprised that Alabama's recruiting does not appear to have tailed off. And, I look forward to be higher than 9th ranking in the SEC.
A player's recruiting ranking is based on who is recruiting them. Alabubba is riding on reputation. It will take Bama mediocrity and glacial time for their recruits not to be automatically rated 4 or 5 stars.

You don't know what situation he might find himself in this year. Auburn is not deep either. A few injuries at a few critical position groups and who knows? My point is that Auburn fans have sold themselves on Jackson Arnold when he hasn't done anything to this point to suggest he's anything other than what he's been.
Auburn is screwed. And not in a good way.

Auburn's problem is that they are in the same state as Alabama and that state has limited resources. Same problem South Carolina finds themselves in with Clemson. A lot of these companies investing in college football now aren't alumni of these schools. They see business opportunities. Auburn has the Yellawood guy but where is the money for Hugh's 2026 recruiting class? They aren't even top 50! That wallet must have closed up. I don't believe the diversions that only Auburn is playing by the rules and everyone else's NIL deals will get nulled. Reeks of excuses for not having the $ to compete.
