Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

"Like they told me that AP stands for like Awesome People and like I really felt bad when the Florida team didn get to win and the other team like beat them at the last second. Like that wasn fair and the one Florida team had blue in their outfits and my boyfriend has blue eyes and so I really like blue so I really felt like they should have gotten to win. But the whole thing is so much fun. Like to get to vote and stuff, like maybe we should pick our government leaders by voting too. That would be really cool because some of them are really mean and if we got to vote then maybe we could vote for the government people with the best outfits and the ones we like on socials the best and stuff."

The difference maker this weekend, Joey Aguilar aka the Volcanic Hispanic.

Kid’s going to read the Georgia defense like the gunslinger he is and pick them apart. He can make the throws. He just has to make the reads. I KNOW he can do it!

The dawgs will remember this loss!
Joey Swaguilar.

September 10, 2025: Refuse to allow worry to overwhelm you and be the focus of your day. Worry will not produce any good fruit, but will steal your hope and joy. Bring your concerns to the Lord, and leave them there so that you can be productive instead of being stuck. Matthew 6:34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

I said it last year.
I said it earlier this year.
I’ll say it again now.

Stop giving valuable game reps to QBs that are not part of the future of this program.
I tried telling everyone earlier that there was no real competition between Merk and JA. Merk is not part of our future. I think the staff believes it is better to keep a third qb than it is to give an insignificant amount of increased reps to GMAC.

Swaguilar only has one year of eligibility, so necks year if Merck leaves we would have Rs Fr GMac and true Fr Faizon. Doesn't sound like a good setup. So do they may go out and get a guy with a couple years of eligibility to fill out the room or try to hang on to Merck who they have already poured so much time and effort into?

Especially since it's the same situation for Merk this year as he thought it was going to be. Yes he had a chance to take the reigns but now he's back to win it next year. I think he should stay and ball out next year but we all know the mentality isn't there anymore for these college athletes

Would all depend on Merk, i think they look for a Joey type. VQ has already hinted by asking the same question.

The fact that someone this clueless has a vote in the AP Poll invalidates the whole thing.
Was listening to local radio yesterday, and they discussed that most of them are beat writers, who spend all Saturday covering their own teams. The AP voters should be national guys or columnists, who pay attention to the national landscape. But, do we really care since there is also a biased committee that sets the playoffs?

They gave plenty of hints that Merk wasn’t very good.
Ive never been critical of Hubbs, really. Guy is a great broadcaster. He has developed friendships with coaches and apparently increased his knowledge tremendously through the years. Ive noticed every now and again he gets a tad deep in the weeds on football terminology. And that's a tad annoying. Yes maybe he does know more than me (not saying much), but is he a football guy? Like if Cain were to say 'was on the DB's hip, using good technique.' Id prob draw a logical corollary to his playing days and think 'ok, that makes sense.'

Hubbs, on other hand. Not so much.

Joey is a true leader of men. He understands that in order to win, he has to be the one to get on a guys ass when they are screwing up. True quarterbacks always display these qualities because being a QB means taking accountability for everyone not just yourself.

The fact that the entire offense is being held accountable by him and that he has built strong relationships in such a short period of time should tell you just how good of a leader this guy is.
