Ok still have a couple days to burn before gameday. So Discussion/hypothetical question:

It's possible that through some circumstance or other, our three fellow east contenders (FL, UGA, S Car) and also Bama could have new coaches at some point in the next couple years.

What would be the "nightmare" scenario in your opinion? Meaning what coaches would you least like to see at each school?

I'm not really sure if I can pinpoint guys I don't want to see somewhere.

I tend to think coaching changes at our top rivals (UF, UGA, SCar, Bama, Vandy) would be a huge benefit to UT. I think people have become spoiled into thinking coaching changes almost always go well right off the bat when they rarely do. I don't think there's any way all 5 schools would hit homeruns, and I'd have to think at least 3 out of the 5 schools would go through some sort of adjustment period allowing UT to get on even more solid footing. 1 or 2 might even make...gasp....horrible hires.

As far as coaches I'd rather not see at those schools? People seem to give Chad Morris a ton of credit. Several of the Texas guys can just stay there (Sumlin, Briles, etc).

I really have a hard time picking because its hard to see fits at most of those schools. UGA isn't too bad and Vandy is Vandy, but do you want to follow Spurrier or Saban, or step into whatever fallout is left at Florida? Yech.

I like Muschamp at UF. The Gators still have a ton of talent and with a good HC could easily make an Auburn-like turn around. Give me proven mediocre in Gainesville all day.

I could see UGA going after Kirby Smart.

USCe might look at Franklin. I don't think he gets the USCw job.

UF will keep Muschamp for another year. I could see them going after Strong in 2014 if Muschamp underperforms again.

I also think Saban stays at Bama, unfortunately. Texas would have to pay him $20 million a year to get him to Austin.

FLA - butch jones
S Car - Bobby Petrino
UGA - Chad Morris

EDIT..also ty for ticket offer other day volsam - wife is now sick so not sure i am going to be able to go - bummer!

Winston has 2 witnesses and their affidavit's, which is really all there is right now besides the dna match.

Which is pretty weak to compete with DNA. Need proof of a mutual relationship outside of the assault. She went through the steps necessary for an assault so it's tough to say she's doing it for "revenge", "money" or "fame". This isn't good for Jameis, FSU or Tally PD. Worse for FSU and Tally PD IMO.

She's full of it IMO. Why all of a sudden she wants to get serious about the case when he's a STAR? I really have no sympathy for some of these women going after these players then they get mad when he stops talking to them. I personally don't feel he had to force a thing. Similar to Kobe Bryant's case.

They'd be happy doing that.

I see no way Muschump stays at UF this year after FSU puts about 50+ on them by the 3rd quarter next weekend. It's going to be straight up ugly.

:)

You guys think Florida will not stop them any? Or that they'll just lay down against FSU? That's a nasty rivalry too. I'm looking forward to watching Winston versus this defense.

Nah, I don't see why Florida will slow them down. FSU is loaded across the board on offense. Plus, FSU's defense scores. A lot. Put that hilariously bad Florida offense (and QB) up against that FSU secondary: Look the f out. FSU's defense will outscore Florida's offense.

Bold statement BB

Good point about the FSU defense. But that Florida defense won't allow FSU to dictate all game. They actually matchup better with this offense than any other team. And Roberson has good games against big WRs.

The problem is that the DNA shows they had a relationship, it doesn't show an assault. The victim needs to have some independent proof of an assault for this to stick. Otherwise, it's just her word against his and we all know how that will turn out.

Agreed but if witnesses are lying and Winston didn't admit to the relationship at the onset its easy to take sides on the he said she said

Not trying to argue, because that very well could be the case (wouldn't be the first time), but what is a victim suppose to do if she reports the sexual assault, goes to the ER and they do their exam/rape kit, and she contacts law enforcement and they put her on hush? Other than reporting to the FBI or state bureau of investigation or State Police (which most people don't know they have that option), what's should she have done (if she is telling the truth)?

Her medical records and any potential injuries (not just to her female anatomy) will be the deciding factor IMO.

I don't care how many affidavits he has. That's not hard at all, especially with someone like this. They won't be alibis because his semen is in her underwear.

Lol at people saying it won't go anywhere because of the height description. I've tried that before, too! Doesn't help much when his DNA is matched.

Sorry not football-related.

TL;DR

I don't trust this case. It's been almost a year. If I comes out that he did it then I hate it happened but until then I do t trust her at all.

It's been a year because of a police cover up not the woman's Choice. I hope it was consensual and she is just crazy but right now it looks like she was told to go away or her life would be ruined

I dont blame the girl in the Winston mess for stopping her cooperation with TPD. If she was pressured by police to not go forward with her claims from the start and then police refused to question/interview Winston's roommate, whom she said was a witness, I don't blame her at all. I would've done the same.

It's sad and makes me sick to see cases as serious as this one and the one at vandy come out and see the effort put forth to clear the school's name and the player's name. Especially if a player accused is in the Heisman and NC race. What's really sad is it's even happening at places like lowly vandy. If Winston and the guys at vandy weren't football players, and the accusations are true, they wouldn't stand a chance at fighting the accusations with high dollar lawyers or staying out of prison.

Just imagine how much stuff happens at a lot of schools all over the country that never becomes public. Most fans realize a failed drug test or two of a star player (DaRick Rogers?) doesn't always come out or maybe something involving changing a player's grade to keep him/her eligible, either. Yeah, it happens, almost everywhere. I understand that but, when cases as serious as rape come up and it involves ruining another person's (and their families) life, I want to see justice served, and I'd say the same even if it was one of our own players. Turning an eye to some things like a failed drug test is one thing but rape......hell no.

The great thing about the Vandy case is the level of proof you have - you almost never have that in these cases and many times they become he said she said - there are cases where the willing that night becomes the unwilling the next morning for whatever reason (i am not saying that happened in this particular case)

but if there is evidence similar to in the Vandy case and there is a cover up - then i'm with you we should be throwing the book at them - and if the NCAA doesnt give a lifetime ban to a coach that knew of this and didnt report it - i mean wow - the vandy one could just get really ugly imo

From a poster on VQ...

"My friend has a son that plays on the team. Butch has gone around to several of the meeting rooms and made players drop and give him 41 push-ups. The same number of points that Vanderbilt put on us last year.

There's several other things being said, but I'll not repeat those. Butch is focused and so is this team. Could be good for Saturday night."

Her side is the TPD advised her not to pursue and when she was pursuing they didn't take her seriously. Not really fair to label her at this point.
