My gosh watching our LBs in tackling drills are just hard to watch. Way too high. Did Dooley's staff not teach these guys anything?

It amazes me that our guys need this much work on just simple tackling technique. I'm glad Butch and the rest of the staff are working to fix it.

Cheney's gone. Hopefully we can do more with less. But, its not solely an offensive issue. We've lost to UF in every way imaginable.

I keep thinking beating Florida is a few years off, until we can narrow the talent gap. But one year you'd think we'd just beat them by shear luck or better effort, regardless of the talent disparity.

Maybe that's this year. It doesn't seem to me that Florida plays hard for Muschamp game in and game out. And I think Butch Jones is going to get our guys to play hard for him.

We'll see...

TRUTH. A.J. is a good football player and a good athlete. He was only a true sophomore last season, but he has to play better next season. Completely agree with Coach Thigpen. A.J. needs to make more plays and cause more turnovers next year, not make 150+ arm-grabbing tackles 20 yards down the field. I expect big things out of A.J. next season.
All A.J. Johnson did as a sophomore in 2012 was lead the Southeastern Conference in tackles.

He had 138 total. But those were just tackles, as Tommy Thigpen puts it. And those aren't enough.

"He's gotta do better," Thigpen, Tennessee's new linebackers coach under Butch Jones, said after practice Thursday morning. "He made a lot of tackles, but what we've emphasized is production.

"Tackles are tackles," Thigpen continued, "but sacks, tackles for losses, caused fumbles, fumble recoveries, that's what we want out of him this year.

"He told me he had one sack his whole career, so we've got to get that up. There's a lot of things we can do better as linebackers. There's always room for improvement."

That one sack came last season, tacked on to an already full stat line that included 8.5 tackles for loss.
Of the league-best 138 tackles, 75 were assists. He had one pass break up, one fumble recovery and eight quarterback hits.

Still, plenty of room to get better, according to Thigpen. And in 2013, less might be more.

"I thought last year we did a lot of things, some guys did too much," he said. "Just do your job. There's 10 other guys on the football field. Don't play like you're the only one out there.

"For us, fit your gap first, do your job, then go make a play. But don't play outside the system."

Can't believe u compared Bray's off the field issues to Ben. No where close.

Dang lighten up...you guys get so touchy in here...always assuming the worst about someone's statements...nowhere did I say that Bray's issues were as bad as Ben R...that was you putting "words in my mouth"...its this kind if crap that makes people not want to post...just making the observation that the Steelers have some experience dealing with a QB that isn't squeaky clean...

Because its not even comparable. Ben has wrecked motorcylces and raped people. Bray threw some bottles at a car. One of those gets you in jail or kills you, the other gets a slap on the wrist and made fun of on websites.

He just needs to get faster, seems to be pretty slow. He can improve that and his game will soar. He can already tackle. Ohh shedding blocks could be a little better

I bet CP goes to a team with a lame QB and Hunter goes to a ream with a great QB... Additionally, that Bray will get drafted too high and have to sit for at least 2-3 years

Can you not read? I didn't say they were "comparable"... I didn't say they were equal...I didn't even say Bray's issues were bad...smh
