Mostly the basic excited to be here stuff:

  • Really thinks the former player thing is important.
  • Hates the dead period because we have ground to make up with recruiting and he would rather be out there trying to catch up.
  • Even with the dead period they are working everyday to make the class better.
  • Spring game is important for recruiting, the fan base, and evaluating how individual players perform in front of a crowd.

TSR will have a podcast of the interview up later today.

Appreciate it. He is doing his best to create as much excitement and energy around the program as possible. He is making himself and the program very accessible to both fans and former Vols which is huge imo.

Its almost like he has been paying attention to all the things that we have been complaining about for the past few years that Dooley had dropped the ball on and is correcting those issues.

After talking with junior Cordarrelle Patterson, new Tennessee head coach Butch Jones believes the WR is "definitely going to the NFL."
"He's a special player with a great skill set," Jones said. "I wish him well." The head coach stated he has had discussions with every junior considering making the jump to the NFL. Nothing is official until the player's signature hits the paper, but expect Patterson to be among the draft-eligible players in April.

- Per GoVolsXtra

SI's Tony Pauline cites sources telling him that Tennessee junior QB Tyler Bray will enter April's draft, and his off field issues will "raise several red flags."
Pauline also states that the consensus around the NFL is that Bray would be better off returning to school. The junior was accused of throwing beer bottles at parked cars this summer, along with admitting to lazy habits and a lackadaisical personality. He has arm talent, but Bray has not shown progress in terms of ball security and footwork.

The video on Rise to the Top is bad ass.

That is one of the better college sports promotional videos I have seen. For a recruit it is perfect, you have College Gameday and ESPN talking about how great the atmosphere is, EA Sports saying the crowd noise they hear on the games is from Neyland (its probably not JUST Neyland but still), attractive ladies being a little flirty, etc. What more could you want in 2 mins and 30 seconds?

Great job by whoever produced it.

I think the weak qb class and having to learn a new offense probably has Bray leaning pro. Although cbs projects him as the #7 qb in 2013 and #2 qb in 2014.

All this talk about Bray and his habits and attitude, if true, really leads me to believe that he will have no interest in coming back to learn a new system and scheme for his senior year. Especially with all of his top receiving targets gone. As good as gone imo.

George McDonald named Arkansas WR coach. McDonald was the WR coach at Miami (FL).

That will probably not affect us too much in recruiting will it? Bielema is trying to make some in roads in FL with McDonald and I had heard one of his assistants who came with him from Wisky has to ties to FL (Charlie Patridge maybe?).

Also, have you heard any rumblings about Rodney Garner to Auburn?

Patridge covered Fl for Wisc and pulled some solid guys in SoFla.

McDonald was the lead recruiter for Stacy Coley. FSU losing Gran and now McDonald could really open things up for SC.

Some people think Bielema will stay with the ground and pound Big10 offense, but hiring Chaney and the new found potential to get some big time athletes from the deep south and TX might change his tune. From what I can tell Coley would fit well in a Chaney offense if he went that direction.

There is so much craziness that will happen over the next 2 months in recruiting its ridiculously fun, especially if you don't get too caught up in it like some people do.

Croom back to WR, per his twitter.

TELL ME I WROTE THAT DOWN SOMEWHERE! Tell me I wrote that somewhere!

I don’t think I did. Dang. Lost all that e-cred.

We’re recruiting way too many TEs for Croom to be a TE. With this offense Croom (and Harris and North) are gonna stretch the field on the outside. Throw it up and let ’em catch it.

Makes me not worry about CP and Hunter to the NFL that much.

ESPN is meat riding Brett Bielema. But of course ESPN still thinks the Big10 was strong this year.

I'm prolly gonna ruit harder against Arkansas this year than I ever have

Yeah, Bielema seems like a solid coach, but I don't understand all of the media hype. I look forward to Arkansas's fan base reacting to a mediocre season next year.

On a side note, why are you making us all look at whatever that is in your avatar?

A few quotes from DC Jancek:

I don't worry about our defensive players' confidence level from last year. We will work hard that build confidence with success.

Twitter is a way of life. Social media is a way of life. We are going to keep going and stay in touch with our fans.

We will be a 4-3 physical defense. We will adjust to the strengths of our players.

Every day is the day. We need to win each day, win one day at a time.

Jay Graham: this is a good group of guys that have come in. These guys have no egos. They are blue collar coaches.

Tommy Thigpen: Coach Jones has people skills. He has a formula for success that has worked. He already has a foundation for success.

Willie Martinez:

I have played in the secondary, and I like coaching an recruiting those guys that are the last line of defense.

This is a tough league you have to learn how to finish. The SEC is the best of the best.

The players don't have it easy with the change in staffs. It happened to me as a player. The way I faced it was we have to step up

DC John Jancek said that Tommy Thigpen will coach linebackers. He had originally been listed as the CBs coach.
