I can agree with that..... I don’t know if it was too blatant or Jeremy made too many enemies that wanted him gone. All anyone has to do is walk by the athletes parking lot to know what is going on.
People talk about Bama and their chargers but they do that stuff above board, believe it or not. They get leases on those cars that are paid with scholarships and grants.

I won’t touch the politics side of this (as LeBron does constantly) only to say your take is extremely ignorant to say the least.
"Extremely ignorant" "to say the least". You sir are hyperbolic. Gotta love the slight dig at Lebron while you say you will not touch it lol.

I don't even like Lebron. He's a flopper and he cries about almost every call against him. But this place clearly has some kind of hate boner for him.

I have zero problem with this take, so long as you and the rest of the sports media would be willing to admit the bold is true for white athletes that get seemingly special treatment also. But that never happens. Tim Tebow most recently comes to mind.
I'm not a part of any sports media.

I only brought it up because the initial quote said he wouldn't be suspended because of "black privilege" which doesn't even make sense when the NBA is like 80% black.

I would be willing to bet money that is not done above board but Tennessee’s athletes use to drive cars way out of their range as well...... I remember Travis Henry driving a brand new expedition while he was on campus.

Not at all, and it was an intentional dig at Lebron. I don’t want to dig to much into the subject for the board, not Lebron. That said, the dig from Whitlock was a direct response for all the direct quotes from Lebron that have had no other purpose than to intentionally divide folks. That’s what I meant by ignorant. I think we can all agree that we come on here to celebrate Orange, not to tear down colors of people.

I can promise it's above board. These kids get a decent amount of money over and above their scholarships. They can easily get an unbelievable ride for $1000 a month including insurance. These guys aren't stupid.

Back in the days odd Travis Henry it was very different. They didn't get all that money then.

See post above, it’s not about league demographic, it’s about very inflammatory statements from Lebron, when he takes all the privilege he can get.

For as much as many on here claim that the NBA sucks and nobody cares about it, we sure do bring it up a lot on a Tennessee Vols Recruiting Forum...

My take...I don't like any politics in sports. I would rather none of it be involved. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem like it will be the case moving forward. On the fortunate side of things, I consider myself mentally strong enough to be able to enjoy a game without words on a court, a tweet from one of the players or a couple of guys taking a knee during the Anthem ruin my experience. I don't let them have that power over me.

Instead, I just enjoyed watching a great weekend of first round games in the NBA Playoffs. The Garden rocking for the first time in what feels like forever...then watching Trae Young silence that same Garden with one floater. My boy Luka taking out the Clippers in a big game one victory on the road. Ja Morant having a playoff debut for the ages. The young Suns and old man Chris Paul taking it to Lebron and the Lakers in game one. All great entertainment.

I get being annoyed by all of the extra stuff, but I just don't allow other people to control what I get to enjoy. And as weird as it is to enjoy watching grown men put a ball in a hoop or run around with an oblong shaped ball tackling each other...that's what I enjoy. I'm going to keep enjoying it too.

On a side note, the crowds being back in the NBA makes the watching experience so much better. They really need to bring the announcers back on site though. When they were calling the games from home or a studio with no fans, it wasn't that bad. However, when they try to do it with 15,000 fans in the stadium, it is pretty bad. Hopefully they make that change soon.

Yeah I phrased that badly lol.

I get what you are saying, and I agree with you. But the fact that LeBron is the most popular basketball player alive and one of the richest humans on Earth doesn't stop him from claiming to be victimized by racism.

The point being we don't live in a world where people make coherent arguments. But I would start with consistency. I don't agree with Whitlock, but it is perfectly consistent with how everyone in the more liberal sports media acts when the shoe is on the other foot.

Agreed, but if he was a direct response to past quotes from Lebron, then it should have been quoted or referenced. Instead he's shooting wildly in the air with his feels, which is unprofessional.

And you have a good point. This is obviously not the forum to have a good and meaningful discussion on the subject.

The Jordan era was a different league physically. Jordan himself struggled with it his first few years. Detroit and Boston didn't even consider the bulls a threat. Jordan also lost playoff series too. I am one of the biggest Jordan fans but I can be honest that Lebron would be more physical in that era because that is how basketball was played then. I believe some of the hate on Lebron is not because of his style of play but because he expresses himself and some people don't like his viewpoints.

Just go through his history: The Decision, going to build a super team, mocking Dirk being sick in the Finals, the constant flopping...those are all just basketball related. Im sure there are more. This criticism is nothing new; he brought it on himself early. I’m not on social media, but he strives to get attention and wants what is really only best for him.

An All-Time great...no one debates that. But I just don’t care for how he goes about doing it.

Just because he's rich doesn't mean he hasn't experienced or been victimized by racism. I imagine money doesn't help the feeling of being treated differently because of your skin color.

And it's funny, I'm not a Lebron fan, like at all, I just feel like the initial argument had holes in it. Thank you for your thought out and well put point. I can certainly see your point.

Hear f****** hear

Athletes, actors, comedians, etc. do just that, entertain. Their opinions are not what I look at or care about. This opening weekend of NBA playoffs was great entertainment, period.
