Open practice as in open tryouts for all those linebacker spots. I heard Heupel has been handing flyers out - WANTED - large fast man, or woman, that can grab and hold onto other large fast men.
maybe we can put a woman back at linebacker and when she assists on 1 tackle, we can become the ESPN media darlings.

Yeah... the three small schools with Vandy and SC are juggernauts. And I'm trembling at the idea of playing KY, Mizzou, and Pitt
I understand you think we will win those games, but do you think we will be favored in them?

If I had to guess right now, we will be favored in 5 games: 3 cupcakes, South Carolina and Vandy.

I don't give a rip. KY has beaten us 3 times in 35 years and they only beat us in years that we fire our coach. We will beat them. Of that list I just gave, Mizzou and Pitt are the only games that we might lose. Idk how good Pitt is. Mizzou got better, but they're still Mizzou and they aren't that good. SC and Vandy are the two worst teams in the SEC.

I also think that we are going to be a lot better on offense than people realize. We have real talent on that side of the ball and we have a coach who has never had bad QB play anywhere he has ever been. We are a 5-7 win team and I lean towards us falling 6-6 but being competitive in every game except Bama. And who knows, Heup has owned Lane so he may pull that off also. Lane has no defense either.

We are thin, no doubt about it. Probably more thin at LB than we have ever been.

However, I think the last three staffs hammered that nail so hard that it is waaaay overrated in the fan base.

We have people talking about 4 wins. 4 wins means winning ONE game out of Pitt, Mizzou, Kentucky, Vandy, South Carolina, and Ole Miss. ONE.

Is that possible? Yes. But not without dreadful coaching. We have a better roster, even in its depleted state, than all of those teams with the possible exception of Kentucky.

I don’t think Pruitt recruited well at all. Maybe the guys are talented but a lot of his guys seem to be bad people or have bad attitudes. We know Heupel and these guys can coach. Do we have the players the can execute. My guess is no

We have a better roster than Ky

I don't buy how some don't think we can make a bowl game this year. If Heupel's offense does what it did in year 1 at Mizzou or year 1 at UCF then it really won't matter that our defense has some holes. At least 6 teams on our schedule will not be able to score with us. We ain't playing Pruitt ball no longer folks. Teams are going to have to score more than 17 points to beat us.

We'll be adequate on offense for sure. But our defense was below average last year and we lost our best players on that already bad defense.

Mizzou will be favored--100%. UK likely favored too. I don't know enough about Pitt honestly at this point

We will be favored over Tennessee Tech, South Alabama and maybe bowling green. Thats about it. Just hoping we can get that 4th win in. 3-9 would be historically bad

Defense this year is different though. Because our offense was inept, they had to be damn near perfect. This year, they can bend a little because our offense will be better. Something was amiss in the secondary last year, and someone suggested that Ansley and Pruitt were making it too complicated.

Not saying you are, but I don't know why people are scared of UK. We have beaten them 32 times in the last 35 years and even won the year they arguably had their best team in years. I think we have a realistic shot at 6/7 wins.
