They're going to hire who they're going to hire. UT wants to make the best hire possible. It may not be the fan favorite, but it's a guy the AD is comfortable with and who they think can get the program back to where it needs to be.

Heck, I can't even tell who IS the fan favorite! We're all over the place!

So he’s lowering expectations.

Why hire an expensive DW to lower the HC hiring bar? Either TB has run out of juice or UT is going to try to sell a burger as prime rib.

Does he want to win a championship? He isn't winning a championship at ISU. He can win one here and be seen as the guy who turned around a giant program that had fallen on hard times. And get paid as one of the game's highest paid coaches for doing it. No brainer.

And pay homage to his idle Johnny Majors by restoring UT to glory.

The amount of people on this board that believe every word out of Basilio's mouth is mind-numbing. Does he get SOME things right? Yes. Does he get MOST things wrong? Yes.

He had no idea about the AD pick until he had someone tell him it was on VolNation then he started reporting on it. He has pretty much admitted he has no idea what is going on during this coaching search. He's out of touch.
