Its only public perception on this board. No one in the rest of the country thinks Franklin covered up anything. If it was the perception of the rest of the country it would have been a big story when he was hired at Penn St, the school with the biggest scandal in CFB history. It doesn't matter if Franklin was "technically" cleared of any wrong doing in the Vandy scandal, the public perception is he had a hand in the matter, which is tougher to sell than just being like "Look at this report that says they can't find anything on him." Especially after we torpedoed Schiano for his part in the Penn State child abuse scandal when there "technically" wasn't any evidence there either.
If we hire Franklin after giving the middle finger to Schiano, it would look horrible. We would be best served to steer clear of anyone from Penn State/Vandy. Plenty of other great coaches out there.
In my opinion, on the national scene Franklin is looked at as alot less "dirty" than Kiffin or Freeze. Especially Freeze. Kiffin you have to factor in he left us once already so he might be disqualified on that alone. If we can hire Franklin, we can sure as hell hire Freeze or Kiffin. Do not want Franklin.
me. @Ulysees E. McGill @SweetasSoda ......just to get started. So no real answer to who it would look horrible to?
Spot on...cept they would never refer to Schiano as anything but an exceptional coach.I gave you the answer. It would look horrible to the national media & most of the fanbase. Do I care about their opinion? No. But, it doesn't change the fact you'd have Pat Forde and Dan Wolken writing articles in less than 24 hours about how we threw Schiano under the bus for an "unsubstantiated rumor" because he is a bad coach, but were quick to accept Franklin.
You act like Franklin has won 3 national titles and 10 Big 10 championships. He isn't special. We'd be just as well off with P.J. Fleck who comes with ZERO baggage and is universally loved and respected by people.
But supporting a coach with Franklin's background isn't bad for UT's image? That's definetly a take.Flame suit on, but if it is Franklin, I truly hope the fans don’t Schiano the hire. Not that DW would follow suit of the previous admin, BUT, it’s such a bad public image for UT. Especially, already having a pretty bad social media image.
He was cleared of wrongdoing. What's your point?Yeah...he really "elevated" the Vandy program..

What coach doesn't want control? If he has a strong AD (WHITE) wouldn't think that would be a problem.No. Wants Saban type control of the program. We just tried that. Also would probably leave us in half a second for LSU
