I think that is the million dollar question.

Had to be some real internal dissension - but we have looked nothing like that team all year.

And nothing has really changed externally - so I think the program is rotten from the inside out and that starts with the Head Coach.

Treatment of players, treatment of coaches, ego, stubbornness - it is all starting to unravel.
But by all accounts (including players who have left the program) they still love Pruitt!! I know people have mentioned that before, but it’s so weird. Also, these guys are still playing hard, though not very well.

There probably is a disconnect between coaches though.

What would the board's take if after the Tex AM game, Fulmer sets a presser fires CJP and names Steele as HC - no search just fire and then a quick naming of Steele (Fulmer's VFL option last time around)?
I love these hypotheticals.

I would guess that's about the worst possible hire imaginable, but it's still better than trying to keep a lame duck afloat.

Ugh. Would be absolutely awful. Time to get a proven winner. Surely they see that paying a little more for a proven coach is cheaper than buying out a shite coach every 3 to 4 years.

LSU may be on the verge of firing their head coach after winning a National Championship. No reason Pruitt should still be the head man. I know LSU has other issues but if they really believed Orgeron was the man they would spin whatever narrative they could to keep him. I don't see that happening. Napier ends up replacing him in my opinion and Tennessee continues to kick the Pruitt can down the road to nowhere.

Reflecting--- pre-season our O line was projected as one of the best in the country... and then we even got Cade... and we are ending the season with an average/below average performing O line... and three are leaving... hmmm...

Hope Salter has Dobbs wheels cause he's a' gonna be runnin...

I wouldn't put it past Fulmer to say at this point we need to go back to the Vol family to right the ship and justify Steele.

If (IF) this theory is true, it will show on Saturday. Players know the ramifications of a loss on Saturday to Vandy.

Other schools are going to start to have openings and our list of candidates is going to start to shrink. We really need to do this before LSU and Auburn.

The best coaches in college football are mercenaries. To be the best, you have to get the best HC. VFL doesn't matter a lick anymore. See Saban, Dabo, Meyer, Mullen, etc.

Would just rather promote Tee if that was the case.
Tee as HC, keeping Chaney as OC, and CJG at RB, replacing pruitt linked staff (friend weinkie, and entire defensive staff) hire Steele as DC and his AUB defensive staff.

Not that i want this but i could see Fulmer go this rout as the relatively "cheap" option to replace CJP. Call it the VFL staff.

Would you guys rather do this or just keep CJP for another year? (hopefully these aren't the only options)
