Do we really think the offensive struggles this year are due to the OC? Before this year the knock on him was that he was too pass-happy, and now he's got this regressive run-based offense all year. I've assumed it was due to the limitations at QB, and that's all that JG can handle. If we don't make a move at the top, I'd like to see Chaney and Bailey for a full year to see what they can do.

Hard to answer this. I do know that he has been a good OC at several stops in the past and he probably didn't forget how to coach when he joined the staff here. So there is that.

My impression as a Certified Armchair Coach is that our older players are unimpressive and I'd much rather develop our talented-but-raw young players than try to go for it with seniors who just aren't good enough to win a lot of SEC games. JG is an inconsistent QB whose highs aren't impressive enough to tolerate the lows. Palmer is mediocre and he can't be your best WR. Chandler is average at best. Brandon Johnson and Velus Jones don't scare anybody. Our TEs aren't worth a mention. Our one dangerous weapon is Eric Gray, and he's a good RB who is about 15 shoestring tackles from being great.

I think any OC would struggle to cobble together a good offense with these pieces. But I don't know who's responsible for the personnel decisions. Maybe these are the guys Pruitt wants out there, or maybe Chaney is given enough rope to hang himself. As an outside observer, I don't know the answer to that.

Hard to believe year 3 Butch beat Florida and Georgia and year 3 Pruitt loses to Kentucky and Arkansas
wasn't that year 4? year 3 was the FL/OU/ARK coulda/woulda/shoulda year....right?
and in that same year 4....he lost to USCE and Vandy to lose the East and a Sugar Bowl.... sigh.

there is no winning.

just different levels of losing.
GBO.

Hard to believe year 4 Butch beat Georgia and Florida but didn’t win the East. That’ll stick with me a long time.

I hope we never have another year 3 like we’re having with Pruitt.

So little success for this team over the past 2 decades.

I tend to believe that, with the way things are going, we only move away from Pruitt if we get an agreement with his replacement. It would have to be a sure thing.

Reading the reporting from Feldman and Rittenburg, the momentum seems to be headed towards bringing Pruitt back and allowing him one last chance to get the offense right. Not what I would do, but I trust those guys and what they're saying.

Freeze is out. I feel like that's something I *know*. Given that fact, who are some candidates that would give Fulmer a promise behind the scenes while also being reputable enough to make paying $20M worth it?
Only the offense??? Our defense is nearly as bad as our offense and we supposedly have some of the greatest defensive minds in the game.......

losing to Wyoming at homecoming...can’t get any worse
kiffin jetting in the middle of the night...can’t get any worse
dooley losing to KY...can’t get any worse
butch...well, Butch. Can’t get any worse
here we are. Can it get any worse?

The worst was the 1996 loss to Memphis. It will likely never get any worse than that.

If I remember correctly, you're right about the first part but the second is kind of wishy-washy.

During the Grudenmania, I believe he did report that Currie flew down to Tampa and I think he (and we) assumed it was for Gruden. Turns out, Currie was leaking that stuff intentionally and that he flew down to Tampa to talk to the Bucs about Schiano's time there.

That right there is the only thing you need to know about Currie running a high level AD. Using Gruden rumors to cover for Schiano. Because that’s how you get praise from your boss!
