In my mind Pruitt would need to win 8 next year if brought back. He’s got 3 auto losses against the big boys, which means he would have one mulligan outside of that to reach 8. He’ll get the three OOC cupcakes, but Pitt won’t be easy. He’ll have to out score Ole Miss which seems like a tall task at this point. As we’ve seen this year, UK isn’t a gimme and Mizzou has really improved over the course of the year. SC is probably a win but that one is always close. Vandy is a win.

Winning 8 in year 4 should be the bare minimum. I don’t see it happening.

The thought of Fulmer's "top guy" is really scary.

We are gonna celebrate when he cans Pruitt Sunday evening, then Monday morning we'll find out he hired Randy Sanders or Dave Clawson.
I can't get excited about a Tennessee coaching search of any design. This talk is a lot of fun, but it's just mental masturbation.

Any coaching search we have will be conducted by either Fulmer or the booster faction connected with the Haslams.

Discussion:

Since bass brought it up. If HB shrout and company go out and play inspired ball, the d gets a few turnovers and we beat no 5 ranked Tex A&M does that give you guys any hope that Pruitt can turn it around here?
I think it helps show a lot of the problems were poor QB play.
I think it helps to show the potential. Then it’s a question of development and consistently winning and beating teams you are supposed to.

Not going to get caught up in a potential coaching change until something with substance is being reported. There is a little smoke out there but not enough to make me think something is happening. So I’m just gonna support Pruitt (even though I’m done with him and believe he’s not the guy) and hope he can turn this thing around.

You need that to happen to prove we’ve had bad QB play ?

Great points on Freeze by VQ posters. He is the clear number 1 choice:

Freeze inherited an Ole Miss program that had won a COMBINED 6 games in the two seasons prior to his arrival.
The following 4 years he went 7-6, 8-5, 9-4, 10-3 with a Sugar Bowl win.

Pruitt took over a Tennessee program that had won a combined 13 games in the two seasons prior to his arrival
We know how the 3 ensuing seasons have gone, 5-7, 8-5, and now likely 3-7.

Freeze did so with Dr. Bo Wallace a 2* Rivals recruit with two collegiate offers (Ark. State and .... Tennessee Tech) coming out of Giles County HS.

He inherited a 2-10 Ole Miss team and these were his offensive numbers in year 1:

  • 31.5 scoring offense points per game
  • 249.9 passing yards per game
  • 173.8 rushing yards per game
  • 423.8 total yards per game

I'm a proponent of keeping him for next season as it's just not a good time to blow everything up, as for what he must do could be a number of things but at minimum he's got to beat at least 1 if not 2 of the big3. I'm not sure 8 wins is enough unless it includes wins over Alabama and Florida.

I thought you just said Pruitt was gonna be successful. Make up your mind Bass.
