I probably should have added that I think its mostly the anonymous Internet fans who are the D-bags.

I never noticed it until I started hitting VN, VQ or twitter.

at games, tailgates, Bowl games and meeting up, I have never ever once encountered a single D-Bag Vol fan.

Just wanted to clarify.

Im still riding for my squad :salute:

Very, very true.

The guys at have work, with a couple of the usual exceptions, have been fairly open to the hire.

Hopefully the reds will calm down.

So... anyone have a clue what recruiting ties or major staff that he has that has good ties to the South or Texas?

What do you think of the hire, Jay? The more I see the more I like. 2-1 vs Strong. 6 years coaching with 4 1st place finishes and 1 2nd place...

I've always really liked his running game, always putting players like Abernathy and Winn in situations that fit their talent sets so that they can succeed. Considering that is something that we have not seen for 3 years now, it will be quite refreshing.

SN: He needs to bring some film of Abernathy to show to Devrin.

He may change his style, by the way, on type of talent he can bring in. There's a reason a lot of coaches run the offenses they do at smaller schools. I agree with most, I will support the man, but hope he hires a top flight staff. Bring on Tee!

Devrin isnt anywhere near as explosive as Abernathy tho.

Offense will not be a problem.

Defense needs to be looked at under a microscope.

TK Jr. on Tennessee's new coach:

"Butch is a guy that focuses on winning ball games, and that is the mentality that UT football needs."

I feel good about this hire . He wanted to be here , turned down other jobs to do so, and that means he has a plan to make it work. I'm all in .

Honestly, other than being publicly denied and a little embarassed, I think pretty much everyone except some of our own "fans" are looking at this hire in an objective and positive manner.

Finally got in and caught up. Maybe I'm asking too much (or too little?) but I just wanted a coach with HC experience that had proven he could win and could recruit at the level we need him to. I don't know how well he'll recruit, but he seems to fit the bill on the other two. First test will be Feb it seems.

Not excited about the hire but I will get behind him and support him. If he hires some great assistancce he should be okay.

Very true. Abernathy is one of my favorite backs to watch, and if we are going to be recruiting 160 pound backs in the future they need elite explosiveness. Unfortunately, the previous regime failed to realize there is nothing elite about young.

Coach Butch Jones has been a WR coach before. Does anyone think this will help sway Hunter to stay another year? Also, what are people's thoughts about Bray leaving? CP is leaving no matter what so good luck in future endeavors with him.

Follow the Money: The Jimmy Cheek Story - Rocky Top Talk

This article basically lays out everything Skeeter talks about, financial issues, academic issues, control problems with athletics, and Hart vs Cheek. Skeet said these are the reasons many coaches were not interested in the Tennessee coaching job (why we ended up with the Butch). Enjoy.

The easiest way to do help everyone out? Let Dave Hart be Dave Hart.

Well, I'm not excited, nor happy, but the last couple of days, we could see it winding down this road.

Now, I am 100% behind Coach Jones and it is encouraging to see some positive feedback from recruits. There are reasons for us to be hopeful that he can succeed here, it's just the fact that we were all hoping for "the sure thing."

To my Grudenite friends, no crow served here. I just respectfully hope that you will take a little more caution next time and read the very clear handwriting on the wall.

GO VOLS!!!

He can probably win. 8-10 games a year anyways. But A) can he win 15 games a year (playoff coming). And B) can he win in February. B will help with A
