I think the "gassed D" defense is perfectly plausible for the second half of UGA. I think they were honestly gassed. I think KY was more about just being completely demoralized. Personally, I imagine players are just as frustrated as we fans are at JG's performance. Probably more so.

JG has stunk the last 6 quarters. I get it. But most of the rest of the team, including the coaches and all of the offense, if they think this bad play is all on him, they need to take a look in the mirror and do some serious self-evaluation, because he isn't alone in the underperforming department. He might be the easy scapegoat, but if they think the only position that needs a ton of improvement is QB, then we're in for more of what we've seen so far.

Well, I have been blessed with so much going on starting on the GA Saturday that I have really not cared. We had a stomach virus then our son called from ER thinking he was having a heart attack especially after the aspirin helped. Test showed his heart was fine, but he has Barrett's esophagus which was acting up plus a panic attack on top of it. When he was operated on for the esophagus 12 years ago, they told us to watch because cancer develops sometimes. My niece went to the cancer center today. The doctor said the lumps under her arms and groin he thinks are cysts that can be removed, but the ones on chest and breast that are going up and down he is concerned about so set up a Cat Scan...have to wait until November 2. Husband is getting worse. And my German Shepherd's hip dysplasia is getting really bad so...... Don't y'all feel better now! Probably not. I tried.

Goodness gracious, SaS... hang in there. Prayers for you and yours!

The whole corrupt system and cheating on an industrial scale Bama has going needs to be reigned in. We all cheat and bend rules, I get it, but it needs to have some kind of limits. This is ridiculous. If the 90’s showed us anything it is that Bama as a program is very mortal like the rest of us when they can’t cheat or are forced to cheat at the same level. Same with UGA.

Until something is done about it I don’t see how anything changes going forward. It’s Bama and GA from here out.

Great how HT wants Mauer to start omg there’s a rift on this team guys!!!!
HT might just be the guy we need right now. We need a special leader. HT believes in Pruitt. HT doesn’t know how to quit. Gotta keep the faith. This season still has tons of opportunity out there.

Everyone can improve, but no one has underperformed to the level of JG. I could sit here and breakdown position by position, but just being honest, every position needs to play better. But every other position is in a legit stage of learning. Just for an example, I've continuously harped on our OT's underperforming at pass blocking, but I do realize both are true sophomores, and still developing, without the benefit of spring practice or a true summer camp. JG is a 5th year senior that's regressing. So yeah, everyone is responsible, but JG is the most responsible IMO. He's supposed to be the leader of the team. And maybe that's what rubs me the most. Our 5th year senior QB seems to be the most fragile person on the team(mentally not physically). We need a QB ready to lead, able to lead, not a QB that breaks under pressure. When he breaks down, it trickles to the rest of the offense.

Just read the update on Drew. Continued prayers for you and your family.

And @SweetasSoda...gracious girl. Keep your head up, the enemy is looking for weaknesses. Been going through my own stuff but my wife gave me some perspective that instantly made me...cry...but feel better. As bad as this year has been and as much as we have dealt with in our own family (which pales in comparison to so many in here), the one thing that we continue to be blessed with is Ashlee continues to be a healthy girl...and sweet as ever.

Prayers for all of you dealing with family illness and all the other sh** (because that's exactly what this year is) that this year has brought.

Here's a picture of Ashlee, maybe it'll brighten some spirits for y'all. She's my daily reminder to be thankful. I'm not ashamed to say she (and her sisters too) has me wrapped around their finger.

When you have a QB who stares the primary receiver down the entire route, it doesn’t matter how good the group is as a whole. The WRs have been plenty good, especially since we didn’t know what we really had outside of Palmer.
You do realize even AP and the gang have been very outspoken on how poor the receivers have been in creating seperation?

Part of me wonders if position coaches have been too caught up in recruiting, and not focused enough on coaching? Not sure how they juggle it all, but teaching and coaching who you have is just as important as recruiting IMO.

Since they can’t go on the road there’s really no excuse.

Just looking at this team and being honest about what needs to fixed, if we can do that without being attacked as "negative" or accused of "screaming for Pruitt's head", these are the things I see that coaches need to work on.

QB - Weinke needs to be spending his time with Shrout, Maurer, and Bailey. One of those 3 has to step up and supplant JG. Whatever is preventing them from being "ready" needs to be addressed, because JG is not the answer.

OL - Friend needs to be working with our OTs on pass blocking. We're fine on run blocking, but our Tackles struggle with getting beat when pass blocking. He needs to work with the entire line on discipline and remaining locked. This line is experienced enough we shouldn't be seeing so many false starts. Everyone needs to be clear on assignments.

RB - You can't fix size, but you can emphasize keep your momentum. Enough with the stutter steps and the pauses. Keep yourself north and south. Try to hit your tackler harder than he's hitting you. They need to be more physical IMO, and they need to learn to pass block. Not only that, they need to work on knowing when to release and become an outlet. I wish we had a big bruiser to add to the mix, but without moving Banks or Crouch, we don't. Unless Hodges can play that role, or Whitehead, but I don't recall having seen either play. Graham needs to teach these guys how to play like he did.

WR - Route running is always top of the list IMO, but blocking and separation are definitely near the top. Precise routes will help with separation. I still contend part of the problem is not having a good QB. Tee needs to get those young speedsters ready so we van have some legit deep threats that can run past defenders.

TE - I'm not sure what Osovet is supposed to do with the personnel he has, but maybe he can work a miracle. TE is a big recruiting need so hopefully one of these guys committed to us is the real deal. Not sure if this can be fixed with who we currently have on roster.

DL - It'll be interesting to see if Pruitt can get a push from these guys. I still contend the biggest weakness on defense is the lack of a pass rush. Between Pruitt and Feldon, they have to find that DE/OLB that can consistently get to the QB. I've seen a few misalign our DL, but this line had two goal line stops against UGA. They also had a 4th down stop in that first half. They're good against the run, they struggle getting to the QB with a pass rush. Really not so dissimilar from our OL.

OLB - Priority to me is pass rush. Already said it. Have to work on shedding blocks, need to be better in short coverages, need to do better tackling. Tackling applies to the whole defense.

ILB - Toot is great, but we need to get the whole Banks/Crouch thing figured out. Both are very raw.

DB - IMO, this has been the most disappointing unit on defense. Two elite coaches of the position, but subpar play. I think the biggest thing to fix is keeping their heads in the game. More often than not, the mistakes seem to be boneheaded lapses in judgement. They need to do better at recognizing routes and getting jumps. Reading the QB is key. And again, tackling.

The entire team needs better discipline. The kick to the groin in the KY game reaffirmed my belief in that. Crap like that shouldn't even be a thought that crosses our players' minds.

I guess I just really expected we'd be farther along than we are. So many things I thought would be fixed by now just aren't, and that's frustrating as hell as a fan. And some aspects actually seem like they've regressed. Not sure if it's because of Covid, or coaching choices, but the energy this year is not what I expected it would be. Seems like other teams were able to get around it, but not us. Again, frustrating. We've languished in mediocrity for over a decade. As a fan, I want more. Sorry if that angers some, but I feel like we've missed out on some opportunities, and some of that is on coaching. Saying that doesn't mean I want Pruitt fired. I want him to do better. Not sure what's wrong with wanting a high paid coach to do better.

HT might just be the guy we need right now. We need a special leader. HT believes in Pruitt. HT doesn’t know how to quit. Gotta keep the faith. This season still has tons of opportunity out there.
This. 110%. A star LB like Henry T could help galvanize this team into getting their collective heads outta their butts. He’s respected in that locker room although he’s only a sophomore. He’s just a great all around dude. I must say with him and HB, the potential to have great leadership in the locker room is there, it just has to be set free.
