It's just common sense. If you have a virus and you sneeze mightily into the air, how far do droplets travel? If you sneeze mightily into a piece of cloth, how far do they travel now? A small fraction of the area the unencumbered sneeze traveled. For the life of me I cannot see why people don't understand this concept. It's why we sneeze or cough into our hand, or tissue, or elbow pit. It's odd that we understand the basic courtesy of that gesture, but don't understand how a mask helps.

Taiwan had the virus before we did. They immediately went on mandatory masks and closed the borders. They've now had less than 500 cases and only 7 dead, and I don't think they ever shut down their economy. Yes, yes, let's keep doing what we're doing. It's working great.

Honestly curious, Did you have these views about the protestors?

I see thousands of thousand of potential cases spreading there.
Yeah. The protests didn’t help. But almost every person in every video I saw was wearing a mask. Any large group of people hurt our progress, but I consider people congregating to demand justice for unlawful murders by the people appointed to protect them a hell of a lot more noble than frat boys in the Ozarks drinking natty ice and getting sunburnt. Just wash your hands and give people personal space. I mean this is taught in kindergarten. Please do your part man. I just want to play pool and watch football.

Only thing i will say is the news today was part of the snafu...Don’t believe everything you read either....fake news is 100% alive and well. I have been privy to a few stories in the past that were totally fabricated and run for political reasons/gain and quite prevalent in smaller markets where certain folks yield powerful swords....same happens when it comes to sports. Crappy all around....
Part? Sounds like we need to get ready for the rest.

Just the constant covid crap and no football. You guys are freaking covid lovers. There is a separate off topic thread.
Yo I tried to bring up topics related to football a few pages back to get us on track. Put a decent amount of thought and time into it and no one gave a ****. Someone please talk football with me.

Anyone got a random feeling about certain players. I’ve got a hunch that Ramel Keyton is gonna be the truth here at some point. Another hunch is Jaylen McCollough. Who y’all got

Yea I think Tank is going to be a stud in year 2 and I really like Keyton as well. I think DW beast out this year as well.

Are you saying that the newstory that the assault happened yesterday is false? Because you hinted at a snafu well before yesterday.
I took it as stuff happened with him before this latest news and was not to the extent of this news and couldn’t be “handled” anymore. Of course, I’m just speculating.

@TrippieRedd bump this with bass up. Dude got them Verses. Looks like he came out with a new video every day for a few months straight. Some got some good beats and he got like a clear flow lol

It’s hard to fathom how somebody could win 21 games in two years at Florida and recruit this awful.
Recruiting was the root cause of the “Mehlenites” existence. No one’s ever knocked his X’s and O’s. Any doubts would be chalked up to “nobody can recruit at Mississippi State!” Bet elite recruiters could show more in Starkville.

I have to commend everyone here for remaining relatively civil and bringing good information to this discussion on COVID.

What I find interesting is that there are three separate but inter-related questions with unclear answers:
  1. How deadly is COVID?
  2. For any given answer to #1: Does the potential damage from COVID (deaths, longterm health issues) outweigh damage to the economy from anti-COVID measures?
  3. For any given answer to #2: What are the correct moral and ethical choices to make?
We grasp this relationship between the questions intuitively, even if we aren't able to articulate it clearly, and this is what drives the conflict between us.

For example: Almost all of us believe that COVID is more deadly than the seasonal flu, whether the death rate is 2% or 0.2% (CDC estimate of influenza death rate: 0.002%). But that death rate is not evenly distributed: most of the danger is concentrated among those who are older than 50, have compromised/suppressed immune systems, or suffer from pre-existing conditions. So before we can even get to the next question and talk about anti-COVID measures and the economy, we have to answer "How deadly is COVID?" and here's the important part: many of us can agree on the data and still have different answers. Is COVID no big deal, because most younger/healthier people are safe, or is it a deadly disease, because our older relatives and cancer-fighting friends are at high risk of death?
