Isn't that what the mass antibody testing was supposed to accomplish?

Then again, if this thing really has 30 strains, does that matter? I read an article and it didn't seem like a huge deal to them. I am a donkey when it comes to medical things, but to me 30 strains sounds like one could be infected, separately, by all 30.

Hopefully that is not how this works. Does 1 set of antibodies "protect" against all strains or only that specific one?
Good question...but I believe millions have been infected, and they are never going to do millions of test post pandemic. Plus...big diffefence between testing a million in Kentucky, and a million in say New York.

NY just tested random shoppers and found 13 or 14% have antibodies.

It’s more widespread than they think, which means mortality rates are better than reported.

go ahead........................can't promise how participatory i'll be at this point, i think i got all that out of my system a few weeks ago lol.
Lol..Keeping it in makes me feel like a human pressure cooker..I would rather take my frustration out in here, than out in everyday life.

Saw that on worldometer. Good news and I think more reasonable (10x reported cases) with more random sampling than some others estimating 50x using internet volunteers.

Does that 1 antibody help against all strains?

Where you been moran?
busy...work has been non stop. i'm busier now than i was before this all started.

we got folks working all kinds of odd hours....many of whom work in my department...so i've been managing most of their work load in my department remotely, basically just assigning tasks out to the field or in some cases, doing the work if i can.

so there's a lot of follow up and review that goes along with that, plus all the new stuff that comes wiht each day..............anyway...busy.

and at home too...as is the case with a lot of folks, been working on several little projects or spring cleaning activities....it's like all those things you walk around your house and say "we really need to ......." well....we're doing those things now. lol.

painted the kids rooms, did a good deep clean on the whole down stairs....i cleaned out and reorgaized the garage, and got my home gym back in business....took apart my Weber, replaced the burners, fixed the catch pan, replaced the heat shields and pressure washed it...pressure washed the deck, washed two cars...................have gone thru both pantries and all our kitchen cabinets and drawers, purging ourselves of all the useless stuff that's gathered over hte years, did the same with the office.....weekly yard work...a lot more cooking......i think next on the list...we're gonna repaint our kitchen cabinets.....but man the more i look at them, and the more i read up on doing that............that sounds a lot more like work than fun.........lol. but whatever...probably gonna start this weekend.

anyway....that's been us for the past 3-4 weeks....it's been good all things considered.

oh i don't blame you on that...but once i got it out of my system, i'm good. my opinions haven't really changed, and i don't see the point, at this point anyway, of just regurgitating the same stuff everytime somebody does something i think is stupid.

they just keep doing it anyway...lol no matter what i say or think abou it....

so, anyone that was reading on here a few weeks ago, should know where i'm at. i've had no reason to change my thought processes on it....so i'm good to go.

I stayed at a Holiday Inn once so I’m going to go ahead and say “yes”

The NY anti body study is really interesting. They split it up by region and found positive tests from 21% in the city to 3.6% outside the NY City area. If that holds everywhere, you might end up with a situation where the cities go through this quickly and horribly, and then are relatively protected. Rural areas won't be, which imo, means that people living in the country will have to be extra cautious once things start opening back up.

I'm imagining 100k in Neyland, with half the stadium covid immune and other half vulnerable.

Statistically speaking, you don't have to test millions of people. Random sampling tests are done all the time in all kinds of fields. If the test is accurate and highly specific, and the methodology is sound, there's no reason you can't get an accurate gauge of what's going on in the population.

Ideally, you'd do this in many different regions. Undoubtedly, not every region's numbers are going to be the same. It's important because if you've had 1% infection vs. 60% infection, you're going to proceed much differently in that particular region.

I've quickly learned that everyone's going to believe whatever they choose to believe, but using sound methods, there's no reason you can't at some point get reliable numbers.

Birx and Fauci said in a presser that they presumed it will help in some cases, but research needed to be completed to determine the extent.

But if it wasn't a Holiday Inn Express we are going to have to refer that answer to our panel of judges to see if that was acceptable.

Judges?
