David, this fanbase generally doesn't mind "negative" stories about the program, or stories that aren't 100% positive and uplifting or whatever. Hell, we rehash our decade of mediocrity on here weekly. The reason you have a bad reputation on here is because you started piling on when the season looked lost after appearing to be a neutral and objective reporter before that happened. It looked like a cheap "betrayal" to get clicks, draw the ire of an easily provoked fanbase, and boost your standing in the sportswriting world by increasing your followers, RTs, etc. Unfortunately, we've been an easy and common target for journalists who do that in recent years.
I agree. @David Ubben

Guys I like Pruitt a lot more than I ever liked Butch....but I just think it's too soon for an extension.

Just the BVS trying to creep up in me again I guess.
Coaches get extensions every year. It isn’t unusual. I think he’s earned one this year anyway, but if nothing else, it shows commitment to him as the coach which helps recruiting

VN battles with Ubben are fun. At least he has the guts to come here and defend himself. Still waiting on Wolken and Thamel... gonna be waiting a long time

Wolken blocked Volnation on Twiiter and the Internet. He tried to sign up for Volnation but Freak said NO WAY you Dou** Canoe. Thanks Freak. Lol

We do this every single week for every single game. This is what I wrote after the Kentucky game.
No i see those and i don’t mean this as an insult having but that’s not really a “detailed schematic” break down that you would see in a film room but more of an analytical stats piece similar to what PFF does. You should pick out 5-10 key plays from a game and maybe get a former vol coach/player or anyone really that has been around or played high level football that could tell you exactly what’s going on for each play, blocking schemes, route concepts, what was the intent of the play, what happened, why it happened etc. ESPNs detail series with Kobe and manning are fantastic learning tools that do this.

We are also doing it with chad

Lol.

TN gets on a 4 game win streak (5 after tomorrow) and all of the sudden, VOL fans are too good for TN Pride sausage balls. SMH

Thank you for that. Found a similar one that is priced cheaper but still made in the US. Do you know anything about the Smokin-It brand?

Not familiar with that brand...I think I bought mine for about $500, so they have definitely gone up in price.

Hey guys, to each his own. If you want to not pay attention to the entire body of work I've done, that's fine. We have a Black Friday sale going on today and I tweeted out about 15 of our best-selling stories in the past year or so. If you want to get mad about one that's more explanatory than negative, that's fine. If you want to get mad about a couple cherry-picked tweets pulled out of context, that's fine. But it's also intellectually dishonest.

This is my Twitter account. I tweeted a bunch of stories this morning our readers loved that if you haven't subscribed, you've missed this year. People on this board who want to feed off tweets they think are too negative can do so if they please. Get angry about me being "too negative" if you want. But I don't really care about writing "positive" or "negative" stories. I care about writing stories that allow our readers to learn new things. I hope you'll check us out and not play the outrage groupthink game. Thanks!

Dudes that carry a huge gym bag around with 30 lbs of junk in it that they never use and leave laying around on equipment that they aren’t even using are the worse
My gym did a remodel and a bunch of new people joined. I don’t get the gym culture: a bunch of tattoos, people taking selfies in front of the mirror, carrying those bags around you mentioned, carrying around a milk jug of water, guys just wearing socks with no shoes, women barely wearing any clothes at all, etc.... I liked my old gym with old equipment and a bunch of old people better

This^

I enjoyed Ubben's stuff when he came on to when I left twitter this summer. He was always honest, straightforward, and wrote great articles. I even downloaded the Athletic to read his stuff.

Seemed like someone in the building pissed him off this summer, and as soon as things went south for the program he pounced on it out of spite. He made it personal to him, took cheap shots, and picked every piece of dirt possible.

We don't care about negativity so much as to the how and why it's being dug up. We aren't so delicate as to require positive press like a puppy needs a teet to suckle.

This was the point of my initial post today. This didn't happen. A lot of folks on this board don't follow my tweets and don't follow my work. But every time I'd post one thing that made someone mad (and in at least two cases, it was taken out of context), they would post on this board and for many, this was their only exposure to me or my work.

I'm just trying to make the case for people to pay closer attention to what I actually say and write and get the full picture. Anyway, thanks for participating in the discussion. I always appreciate the interaction and really do appreciate the passion of Tennessee fans. It's why we cover this team so closely and put so much time and resources into doing so. No other outlet in town is going to Alaska to tell Tennessee football stories, and I'm not sure many, if any are even going out to California to do it, either.

Pruitt knows Papa Phil is committed to him. CPF picked him to break his records, which (if CJP succeeds) will make Fulmer (coaching + AD) the greatest Vol of all time.

You suck dude, I’m hoping you get reassigned somewhere else and we get a real journalist. Go away
