It'll be interesting to see how they use Maurer. We're going to need to throw the ball and there are trust issues with all the QBs. Maurer has the mobility. JG has the better arm. Both need to make better decisions and take care of the ball. Most agree that Maurer has the upside, but he needs more game reps. Only way for him to get better is to play. Will be a tough test today.
More than looking slow, weak, unathletic, the real problem to me is we don’t play hard or look prepared mentally. Those are things coaching makes up for - and we’ve been at a deficit in those areas for 3 out of 4 games.
These are the things that have to be fixed this season regardless of wins and losses. And the opportunity starts today.
i like where your heads at. But neids has never even been a coach before. Weinke had never coached in college. Ansley had never been a DC before and wasn’t overly impressive in his first stint here. Johnson was at Memphis and Tulane and was a college coach for 3 years.People don’t like it when we say it, but if we had anybody else at QB we would be 3-1 with a competitive loss to Fl. That doesn’t mean there aren’t other issues, there clearly are. But nobody would be saying Pruitt isn’t the guy and that we should fire him.
Dobbs saved the interns job. When he left it was clear there was no real recruiting or development. Pruitt doesn’t have that luxury. He has to develop what we have without a QB. We’re waiting on Bailey and hoping he’s good. If he is we’ll be competitive with him as long as Pruitt keeps recruiting like he did in the 2019 class.
These guys didn’t come to Ut and forget how to coach. And as I said last night, nobody thought any coach on our staff was garbage before they got here. They are all high quality and highly respected coaches. That’s undeniable.
VFL I know can’t stand Ansley. He told me it was a terrible hire when we made it but I didn’t believe him because everyone was so high on him.i like where your heads at.
