Arkansas
•It appears that LSU’s Les Miles, TCU’s Gary Patterson and Boise’s Chris Peterson are not interested in the job and turned it down. Although, Miles remains the only one made public.
•Petersen had a press conference yesterday, and he did not sound like a man who would take another position soon, although no one asked him about other positions. We’re not sure if the Boise media was directed not to ask Petersen about other open jobs, or whether they just didn’t ask him. It had to have been the former.
•Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy is still on the big board, as he has supposedly talked to his team about speaking with Arkansas and Tennessee officials.
•The coach gaining more momentum right now is Baylor head coach Art Briles. Baylor finished the season by knocking off Gundy’s Oklahoma State team 41-34. Briles wouldn’t be a bad hire at all, because of his sexy offensive style and ties to the state of Texas.
•Jeff Long probably won’t wait much longer, as Tennessee and Auburn could hire coaches within the next two days.

Auburn
•The big news out of Auburn is that it appears Kirby Smart has emerged as a real contender for the job. Smart, of course, is arguably the top defensive coordinator in the country at Bama, and it would certainly add a twist to the Bama-Auburn rivalry – but what horrible timing for the Tide’s preparation for Notre Dame. Smart has been waiting on the ‘right’ job, and if offered, this just may be it.
•Auburn is still considering Arkansas State’s Gus Malzahn, TCU’s Gary Patterson, Boise’s Chris Petersen, Louisville’s Charlie Strong and Bobby Petrino.
•Clemson offensive coordinator Chad Morris is said to get an interview at some point, which likely hasn’t happened yet.
•Auburn has spoken with Bobby Petrino via phone.
•The names to look out for moving forward are Malzhan, Strong and Smart. I believe it will be one of those three, with a decision imminent.

Tennessee
•Jimbo Fisher looks off the board because he’ll likely stay at Florida State. Many believe he is and remains Dave Hart’s top choice.
•The Vols have thought to narrow down their list of candidates to two – Louisville’s Charlie Strong and Oklahoma State’s Mike Gundy.
•Both are different styles, with Strong being a defensive-minded coach and Gundy having his high-flying offense.
•I believe that if Strong is offered, he’ll take the job, as where Gundy may revisit OSU after an offer and choose to stay where his heart is.
•Hart is said to interview Larry Fedora in New York, and another name that came on the board is Wisconsin’s Brett Bielema. I doubt Bielema would leave Wisconsin though.

You have to wonder what is going through Dave Hart's mind?

He has interviewed Gundy and Strong and is waiting for something. Is he not satisfied with the candidates that he has? Is he waiting for someone else to enter the fray?

We hear that Gundy supposedly has until Thursday to give an answer to Hart. Will Strong get the job by default? Dave Hart's silence points to the possibility that he does not want to go that route if he can help it.

I think you are digging too much and trying to sling mud on the Strong hire. Hart is doing his due diligence here and I expect nothing less. He has only interviewed 3-4 candidates which is really a small pool. Working out schedules to do those probably isnt easy. Top that off with anything he has to do paperwork wise if it is Charlie and you have your delay.

The only major difference in the schedules is the fact that UF played USCe.

Both are top 10 in pass efficiency. The big difference is on offense where UF is ranked 104th in the nation.

Florida also played FSU and Vandy(yeah I know). The gameplay is much different. They have 3-4 good CBs. Bama has only 1. The safeties are somewhat close but Florida gets the edge with Elam being a real tone setter for the back-end. No I'm not hating but Bama has been attacked only 3 times all year(LSU, A&M, and UGa) and the rest of the secondary outside of #28 didn't respond well. UT not attacking Bama like we did Florida was crazy.

Fairly certain BB was being sarcastic toward tidewarrior...doubt any true racism was there. Would reread his post with your sarcasm meter turned all the way up :)

Thank you. :salute: anyone that has watched Kevin Sumlin win in T-town his first year would know exactly what I was describing. :)

If Strong can bring a recruiting haul it makes no sense to look at Gundy in terms of a long term perspective. The future begins now.

From everything I've gathered, I think Gundy is our (Hart's) top candidate. However, it may be pretty sad if he prefers Arkansas over UT.

I think he is a much better fit for arky because he has tons of ties and Texas already. That is the only drawback to Gundy to ut is his connections in the south. That won't be a problem at Arky. That's why I think he may favor arky over UT if he does. Jmo though

Hmm I thought Larry was leaning to Strong and while he didnt think it would be done super fast, he expected an announcement at anytime.

I didn't get that impression this morning, but that doesn't mean Strong won't be our guy.

The Denver Post reported Colorado has offered Jones a five-year, $13.5 million contract.

Butch Jones is said to be deciding today. I guess its the consensus of the board that we will know our coach by sometime Friday?

another dumb azz move by Colo.

IMO you go after the OC/DC from Standford, Greg Roman or Hue Jackson...need guys with recruiting ties to Cali and Las Vegas to win at Colo.

Def agree with that. Purdue was the other option, I think that would have been a much better fit for Jones.

How do you all think we would do in recruiting if Gundy is the man? Cue the man jokes in 3... 2... 1...

Can we get a Little Bean update?

My source, who may or may not be Abu, disputes reports that the deal is dead. I can with 100% certainty confirm Little Bean turned down Arkansas. He said, "they breath stank."

If Little Bean is indeed going to be the new head coach, I would look for a deal to be hammered out by, NSD... But Hart may not wait that long

Sling mud? No, sorry if the every thing presented upsets you, but it does give that appearance.
