Another bye week topic …

After 5 games, how many players do you think and up drafted in this upcoming draft.

Only having 4 last year was disappointing. Still can’t believe 3+ year starters in the sec like cooper mays, Spraggins, Omari Thomas etc weren’t good enough to even be late round fliers. Really illustrates how much our 2024 team overachieved.

This year the obvious ones are

Colton hood
Jermod mccoy
Chris brazelll
Lance Heard

I think Josh Joseph’s, Tyre West, and Star Thomas likely get picked

Bryson Eason and Jaxson Moi potentially but one has age going against him and the other has to stay healthy.

Arion Carter hasn’t had as good a year as many expected so maybe he comes back.

Wendell Moe potentially but I think his height will hurt him.

Could Jalen McMurray be another Theo Jackson type?

I definitely could see 8-10 guys from this team picked.
I think Joey Ags has a chance at being a late round guy.

I will also say no team will ever just out talent people so much like the Bama dynasty or the early 20 UGA teams. That era is dead thankfully. There will still be talent advantages obviously but just not as extreme. Bitch about NIL and the portal all you want, I get it, but it’s bringing more parity to the sport. Much needed parity.
I agree with one exception - a team gets a super rich booster / booster group and significantly outspends everyone.

How good is Vandy, really?

They had a decent record last year but lost to every quality opponent. Most of the losses were competitive but still losses.

This year they haven’t played anyone. Biggest win is vs an inconsistent uscjr team who lost Lanorris sellers early in the game.

I know the Diego hype and all that but does anyone think they get mollywhopped this week? They’re still Vandy afterall. Dominating Georgia State, Utah state, Charleston Southern and Virginia tech doesn’t really move the needle for me.
IMHO, I think they’re going to be competitive in the SEC portion of their schedule. Pavia has been very accurate and still makes plays with his feet. Vandy hit the jackpot with their coach and would be wise to figure out a way to hang onto him.

It's like they can't see the obvious holes/thin weak spots in the roster that the staff has to continually work around....they are so blinded by the bright shiny toys that they overlook the not so great stuff we gave to work with.

Last years defense with this years or 22's offense and we are real NC material...I can't wait until we manage to get elite BCR and on field play on both sides of the ball at the same time....until then we are just doing the best we can with what we've got and trying to hide or minimize weaknesses.

I am grateful for where Heupel has brought us so far, it is a thousand light years better than the pureed crap we had for 15 years...the IMs just want to piss, moan and bitch about what we've not done YET.

I actually had finally started to believe LWS was right and we were done as a blue chip elite program...I had very little hope left, but Heupel has taken us so far above and beyond what I thought was possible so quickly that I think it is pure asinine stupidity to constantly bitch at him.
The talent on offense will be stupid good in a couple years. We’ve got to match that on the defensive side at every unit.

Arion Carter is leading the league in tackles and the next closest guy would need a 15 tackle game to catch him.

He will be drafted if he goes

Oh I wasn’t suggesting he wouldn’t be drafted. But if he gets a mid to low draft grade he may elect to come back.

Tackle numbers notwithstanding he hasn’t had the start to his season many expected. None of our linebackers have been especially good.

UGA is ranked 1st, us 16th and State 24th, so State is about as close to us as we are to UGA.

I think people can rightfully be critical of how many boneheaded mistakes we made to put ourselves in jeopardy, but they can't think nuaced enough to see that and how we should have blown them out + how resilient we were.

Great teams gut out tough road wins like that. They find ways. We even found away against UGA with our backs against the wall and were a FG away.

The legion of the miserable just have a pessimistic view on life in general...which I think is a stupid way to be.

How much better can our defense be with Hobbs, Moi and McCoy back?

Does Sanders make our o-line even better?

I wanna beat the tide badly. I can even live with losing to Oklahoma and Florida if it means we get to smoke cigars that day...

The Georgia vs TENNESSEE head official.... View attachment 777883View attachment 777879View attachment 777880View attachment 777881
His crew threw zero flags on Georgia the whole 2nd half/overtime

Oh, It gets better and by better I mean much much worse....

MSU vs TENNESSEE head official...
David Smith played QB for the tide, was a team captain, and the 1988 Sun Bowl MVP

*Both are allowed to officiate any of alabama's biggest rivals games. How is this not a conflict of interest? I was raised to hate alabama just like they were raised to hate TENNESSEE.

There are several other tide alumni that are SEC officials, across all sports. They're the cheatingest school in the SEC and the league office is within 40 minutes of their campus. I remember when alabama played half their games in Birmingham. There is no way anyone affiliated with that school will give TN a fair whistle ever, especially now that we're good again. The hate amongst our schools is real.

And the creme de la creme.......

THE NATIONAL COORDINATOR OF FOOTBALL OFFICIALS IS IN THE alabama SPORTS HALL OF FAME AND A GUMP ALUMNIView attachment 777890*Steve Shaw also serves as the secretary-rules editor of the NCAA Football Rules Committee, a position critical to the development of competition rules and policies. How do you think Nick Saban got rules changed at the snap of his fingers???

Are you payment attention yet???

WAKE UP VOL FANS!!! THE GUMPS ARE IN HIGH PLACES OF POWER!!! THEY HATE OUR SCHOOL AND YOUR GUTS. THEY ARE STILL WANTING PAYBACK FOR PHILIP FULMER TURNING THEM IN FOR CHEATING IN THE LATE 90S/EARLY 2000s. IT'S PERSONAL TO THEM.

Jeremy Pruitt put us into the darkest times our football team ever went through and our athletic department was full of alabama graduates. We were heading towards a SMU level of punishment. Do you think that was a coincidence?

GET THE SEC OFFICE OUT OF BIRMINGHAM. FIRE EVERYBODY AND START FRESH.

GO VOLS

*McDad started a "BYE week topic : SEC officiating" thread in the FF. I'm fired up. I shouldn't be this mad during a bye week but the truth needs to get out.

I HATE ALABAMA

I am just ready for this program to get over the freakin' hump. Start stepping on throats when we've got national championship contenders on the ropes (UGA). Stop playing down to inferior competition and letting teams like MSU hang around when we could easily beat them by 3 TD's if we play to our ability and stop shooting ourselves in the foot. I'm ready to see the coaches play to win rather than not lose. No more inept clock management. No more playing scared. We have the talent in both players and coaches to light this thing up. Go do it!
Hate to break it to you. We add a 9th conference game next year. It only gets tougher. Just win. Heupel has stepped on throats more than any other coach in the last 20 years. Some games will be tight.

Winning on the road in the SEC with your C game is actually a pretty good sign that things are going the right direction imo.

Yeah and it was a win over a legit team on the road in the SEC. They made it their gimmick game, biggest game there in a while and we won. Mississippi State was undefeated with a win over a ranked Arizona State team who is once again a college football playoff contender. 4-1, won at Baylor and beat ranked TCU.

Still won while spotting them a ton of points by being awful on special teams, dropping passes, missing a couple open ones and the refs removed 7 points.

I think we have the cahones to go beat Bama in T-own after watching that and now we get a healthy d-line and McCoy for that.

Looking at this list tells me we are gonna need some secondary help in the portal this year

Interesting. If correct just show we have a way to go in talent. We are getting there, slowly though. It’s tough
