I mean…sure it’s too early to have him fired or on the hot seat, but our special teams have not been good
Kinda got pushback after I waxed poetic about Mike Ekeler. Guess folks here were still mad at him for going back home. But ST were a strength under him and now it makes me nervous. Need to get it straightened out.

Wow, did we need this week to get here desperately! 4-1 entering the bye is probably where we all thought we would be before the season started. What we didn’t expect is for the defense to be struggling so much, for Joey Aguilar to be so so good, for the injuries to be devastating so early in the season, and for our record to be where it is because we dropped a game to Georgia in OT that we should have won and won a game in OT at MSU that we might should have lost. So, the net is we are still 4-1, and have a lot to look forward to if we can get healthy and correct our mistakes.

Keys to win the bye week:

1. GET HEALTHY ON DEFENSE! This is the most important key these next 2 weeks. We have weathered a lot of adversity the first 5 weeks. Now, we need everyone back healthy and to hope McCoy is ready to be back close to what he was pre-injury.

2. Can we please practice fundamental tackling and taking better angles in the off week? Both have been atrocious for our defense.

3. Get every single offensive skill position player on the JUGS machine every day all day (except Brazzell), and especially Kitselman, Staley, and all the RBs!

4. Coaches, you have some things to evaluate schematically (defense) and with in-game decisions we are making, as well as clock management mistakes (Heup). These things need corrected just as much as the things above.

Do these things, hone in on fundamental
Football, and we win the bye week and should be prepared for the next 4 game gauntlet before our next bye. LETTUCE GO!

ONE TEAM, ONE HEARTBEAT!
We outgained MSU by nearly a hundred yards...it was a freaky set of circumstances that led to that game. The three freaky bounces leading to 21 points that had nothing to do with great defense or special teams on their part, unlike the two TDs our defense scored because they made plays..and the stolen TD to Brazzell..

It was just a weird game..it happens, but no we shouldn't have lost that game.

Georgia was just a total tossup..all the stats were similar.

The run support from the safeties has been disappointing. I expected Farooq to be more physical. Hopefully with the bye week they can get the run support cleaned up and get more physical in their tackling.
Farooq support is good angles bad and tackling bad. Turrentine is just too slow foot speed to help much.

I am just ready for this program to get over the freakin' hump. Start stepping on throats when we've got national championship contenders on the ropes (UGA). Stop playing down to inferior competition and letting teams like MSU hang around when we could easily beat them by 3 TD's if we play to our ability and stop shooting ourselves in the foot. I'm ready to see the coaches play to win rather than not lose. No more inept clock management. No more playing scared. We have the talent in both players and coaches to light this thing up. Go do it!

When McCoy comes back I would love to see Farooq at one S spot and Boo and McMurray at other S and Star. Would have Redmond and Turrentine as solid backups. Not in the room or on the practice field obviously so not sure if that's workable.

I worked with an ol' boy several years ago who wasn't exactly the sharpest knife in the drawer.
But he was a loyal Vol fan, I will concede that.
One day he looked at the Tennessee football schedule hanging on the wall in front of my desk and turned and asked me, "Who the hell is B-Y-E?!"
I kid you not.
I told him thatl they were in the Mountain West Conference.
He said, "Oh."

Was Pruitt coach? I think we lost to B-Y-E a couple of times while he was coach.

I give you a like because 1, I feel you and this is the proper, adult way to vent about your team..
And 2...
your screen name is worthy of 2 likes, but unfortunately Freak hasn’t added the “really like” button.

The program will get over the hump when the BCR has been above 50% long enough for the new higher talent guys to become productive. Like it or not, we are still at a significant talent disparity to teams like UGA.

As for MSU, you saw them playing to the competition, but I see a team that won't quit when the breaks go against them. Breaks like a muffed punt, two interceptions that had nothing to do with coaching or poor QB play, a 5* WR dropping a very catchable wide-open TD pass, and zebras taking 6 off the board for an imaginary penalty. Pretty impressive to keep your wits and win that game. JMO.

I will also say no team will ever just out talent people so much like the Bama dynasty or the early 20 UGA teams. That era is dead thankfully. There will still be talent advantages obviously but just not as extreme. Bitch about NIL and the portal all you want, I get it, but it’s bringing more parity to the sport. Much needed parity.

But, but, but, Saban said NIL would *eliminate* parity!

I know Perry came back and finished the game, but after the Sanders injury, I am paranoid about any OL injuries. Hopefully the bye lets him fully heal from whatever he tweaked.
